Is the update for the Mac a total pile of poo??

My iMac was struggling even before the update to 1.10. Now it grinds to a hault making it near impossible to do anything, god know how im gonna DJ at the vortex this monday.

I need to know from the rest of you is this update a pile of poo?, ive read a few threads from Intel mac mini users, macbook pro users that make me think this is maybe the Lab releasing a dud client rather my mac just being too crap.

Is there any Mac users that are able to get the client working well?

I can't log in either. I have a Power Book G4, Mac os 10. 3. 9 and i tried everything like deleting all the old client files, Cache, cookies...and starting completley fresh. Its not working. ..It sucks Im in D-land so Im ahead of everyone else in the US. Its still not working.

So what does viewer only mean?

It means that changes to the grid are not necessary, you'll just need a new version of the SL client application.

EDIT: Although it looks like they may make 10.9 compatibility part of a larger bugfix update on Friday.

It's been a marked improvement for me: I'm running a G4/400 Mhz, with a Radeon 8500 and 1GB RAM. My fps has increased (albeit slightly, and still nowhere even close to PC levels because of the port), and rez times are a major improvement over where I was before.

I just installed the Radeon last week, with the latest drivers, so maybe that helped. I also have stuff like Local Lighting all off.

If you're on OS X 10.3.9, toy're locked out of SL until the Lindens deign to release the fixed Mac client. Maybe Friday.

Sounds like Loki is able to run it, but it's slow rather than not allowing them to log-in.

Try turning off options, setting lights to "sun and moon only" and others to see if any of the settings make it better.

I am running a 20 inch iMac duo with 10.4.6. I was previously using the Alpha UB release which was working wonderfullly. With the update, the lag makes the client essentially unusable. If anyone has luck adjusting the settings, let me know. I will not be spending anytime in SL until a better client is released.

I havent been able to log in cause Im on 10.3.9, but I read another forum where someone who was using OS X 10.4 noticed the default preferences are set to "view ripple water effects" Once they reset that to NOT allow ripple water effects, they were good to go.
A suggestion, but not sure if it will work.

works fine here, G4 1.67, Radeon 9700 128MB, 10.4.6... not much of an improvement but certainly no decrease.

There's a bug that is causing a visible "stutter" in the client when you rotate your view that we are also trying to get into this fix. It affects all Macs and all PC's with lower end capabilities. A good repro for it is to go to the Welcome Area in Ahern and stand in the middle of the WA pavilion. Rotate your view. You'll notice that the client literally stops for about 1 and a half seconds, then catches up. This is causing perceived "lag", although it's not lag, its the client trying to catch up and render all the textures, rather than all the geometry/avatars (whoopsie).

Kool, thats exactly wot i got, freezing while rotating. I was able to DJ last night ok as long as i stood still lol. I have faith the linden guys will fix it all in the end preferably before i get my new macbook

I have as a kind of hickup when I fly. The screen stops for a sec and then start to move again...and after a white its stops again.. . and..
