I have been unable to access SL since Wednesday. I have reported this to SL support and their silence has been deafening. I am using a Powerbook G4 which is 2.5 years old and using OSX 10.4.8
Processor 1.33 GHz and 512MB DDR
Up until this latest update I had no trouble accessing SL so I assume that it is a software conflict between SL 1.12.3.4 and my OS.
I have tried loading the latest version of SL on a dual core Intel Processor machine in an Apple shop and it works perfectly.
Has anybody got any suggestions or experienced similar problems.
Desperation is such an unattractive character trait.
Please help

Recurring crash following 1.12.3.4 update

Hi Kindred. Presumably you've cleared the cache (by deleting ~/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/cache). Reading my log ( at ~/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/logs/SecondLife.log ) with a text editor often reveals other things happening outside the SL application folder. Sometimes I get this entry :- 2006-10-28T23:27:15Z INFO: Rename failure (1 - /private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/SecondLife/9e3d5105-d07c-8c57-8a72-1b00a55feb1f.tmp <snipped> 2006-10-28T23:27:15Z INFO: Copied the file - this should *NEVER* happen in production which suggests that it's behaving in unexpected ways. I've found that doing a deep cache clean with Applejack or Onyx improves the situation. The same may be true for your set up. Best Wishes, Cathal >> Desperation is such an unattractive character trait. Despair - It's always darkest just before it goes pitch black.

Just Trying to get started

Hi Folks,
I just downloaded SL today and I can't log in at all. I've got a Macbook and 10.4.8. Whenever I try to log in, it just crashes. Any help would be appreciated...but I'm betting that I'm just out of luck.
Anyone know how to go back to 10.4.7?

Habe been trying to get the current client run on three different computers, incl. a Cube, a 1.6 GHz G4 and a 2.0 GHz G5... all crash.
Clearing the cache didn't help. The question remains: how can some Macs log in?

Kindred, you have somehow missed all the trouble talk, you are not alone. Gabriel, you cannot go back to last version. Sadly, or I would as well, it at least worked. Moni, it is unclear why some work and others do not. It has been suggested that screen size matters (no pun intended . I have a G5 that does not work as of this version, and a G4 that does but not really because it does not meet the SL standards for visual specs and it is like being blind to use it. I have tried many of the various tricks that people suggest and none have worked for me nor for many ohers. Answer in the poll... /164/72/146168/1.html

Issue solved

It is indeed a bug in the current client-version, and it crashed all Macs set to 32768 colors instead of 16,7 millions. That simple.
