I have noticed there is a wide variety of Mac hardware systems and OS's involved in the latest Second Life technical failure.

I see a wide readership of postings related to this issue but I am wodering how many are affected and of what nature is your system?

that poll doesn't answer the question of how many users have set their Mac to 16,7 vs. 32678 colors... which with this bug is crucial.

Why on earth would you set your Mac to 16-bit color?

Hey Moni, I will add it but the thousands versus millions is fixable by simply being in thousands, that being said, were you running in thousands so that you could get a higher resolution from your card? So maybe this is a hardship for some.

The more critical bug which at the time of this posting does not have a stated SL fix can be found here...

This is a work around, it is not a fix and although efective it is a hassle and not standard operating proceedure. Linden Labs should still be held to account.

Great thanks to Rachel Corleone, a true Mac sister of the highest order!

Edit: Sorry just found out I cannot add that color question to the poll.

I was wondering the same thing. Heck, even systems 6 years old can handle millions of colors no problem.

How is everyone doing with newest upgrade?

Sometime yesterday, Wednesday, Nov 1, Linden Labs released a newer version to supposedly fix the Mac crash problems.

Mac OS X: 1.12.3.6 (54MB)

Found here...

http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php

Download it or do the uprade via opening Second Life, the irony of the second option is if the client is crashing at startup you cannot do the live update. Reminds me of the time a landlord of mine mailed me the key to my new apartment, to the mailbox at the apartment.

Using the second user OS X login method described by Rachel Corleone I downloaded the 'Highly Recommended Upgrade' to that OS X account and it worked. Or at least it does not crash. What I am going to try next when I get a chance is see if this upgrade can fix the original problematic upgraded client, 1.12.3.4 (?)

Good luck to all and fill in the poll while you are here.
