I just upgraded from an ancient G4 iBook to a brand new MacBookPro. It just arrived today, in fact. Everything works GREAT on the new laptop, except Second Life. The software crashes almost immediately after I click on the icon to open it. I don't even get to the log in screen. I know the grid is down this morning for maintenance, but if this was part of the grid being down, I should be able to get to the log in screen.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm currently downloading new copy of SL to see if that will help.

Well, I cleared my cache and can now log on, but crash about every 15 minutes. Is it the grid or me?

I'm having the same issue with SL crashing before I can hit the connect button on my MacBook Pro. Hope someone has an answer for us.

From: Dadooz Davies I'm having the same issue with SL crashing before I can hit the connect button on my MacBook Pro. Hope someone has an answer for us. Get rid of all your cache. That cleared up the issue for me. Last night on SL was a true trial, though. I kept getting "stuck". I could turn in circles, but couldn't walk or fly. I could type in the chat window and it would disappear when I hit return, but never appeared among the lines of chat. :/ Each time this happened, I'd quit SL to relog, but somehow my internet connection would be tied up so that SL, my email, and my web browser couldn't access it. I'd have to restart the darn machine. Any suggestions?

Freezing Upon Login
08-19-2007 06:21
I, too, just upgraded yesterday from an IBook (which despite running slower, handles SL just fine)......to a MacBook. I even had them install more memory in the new MacBook specifically for SL. I can log onto SL but immediately freeze. I was able to log in for a few hours last night but crashed. Since then, I have not been able to log without freezing. Very frustrtated........

Check for new software updates (Apple drop down menu), There was a MBP software upgrade that came out last week that helps but does not completly cure the issue.

Crash...cannot log in
08-26-2007 19:35
Just adding my voice to the chorus. I have also installed Windows....now, neither my OS X or Windows Vista work at all on SL. I freeze up as soon as I get on....
Why isn't someone in the technical field able to answer this question? Why are the Linden people paying attention?

Someone posted in an another thread: "To fix it, I simply moved the <HOME>/Library/Application Support/SecondLife folder out of the way " A few people responded that it fixed most of the crashes. Worth a try I think. This is the forum link: /164/47/201381/1.htmlMeni.
