Not sure if I am asking in the right place, but what I would like is something that we can put in an object which, when the avie touches the object, receives an invitation to our market's customer group.
I KNOW I have seen them around, and now that I want one, of course, can't fine one. Could any kind soul please help?
Thanks.

As far as I know there is no way to offer a Group Invite with a normal script command. I have seen it done with some tricky scripting and a bot-avatar account that is set up to listens for requests from a script and then offers your avatar the group invite.
I don't recall where I saw it, although I believe it was some sort of dating or match-making Sim. Something about 'happy' in the title maybe?
I was consulting with the sim owner on some landscaping. I remember I touched one of the info signs and was surprised to receive an automatic Group invite. I asked him about it and he mentioned that it was an avatar account set up just to offer Group invites...

Group invite script is NOT a fairy tale

But if you really want this you should check out "scripts'r us", they have it in place in their store and you can contact the owner to buy a copy. I have forgotten his name.

Thank you, Finkel, I will check that out. We are looking for ways to make it less tedious to these routine things - shopping should be a joy, with people to interact with, not a nightmare of notecards and mysterious things you have to click

I think Cassini Creations recently released a script that handles group invites in some fashion.

There is no LSL function to send a group invitation, so it can't be done by normal scripting. The only way I could imagine to do it would be to create a modified client, either a modified LL client or a bot written using libsecondlife. You could then have your group-invite object communicate with the bot, and the bot would issue the group invite.

lol, i have a script that sends an IM to the owner of the object it's in, or to an optional configurable "group manager", when a potential group member touches the object. It compiles a list as well, which you or the manger can read and reset at will. The list persists across rezzing (sim crashes). The script is fairly low-lag.
IM me if you're interested.
There is no script alone that can actually issue the invite (only avatars can do that), but systems are available that have a single-function bot do so.

I too was looking for this script, Cassini Creations(scripts r' us) has a demo in their store. Currently it has a brand on it 'out of order'. So I think the search will continue, or we can hope she fixes hers?..lol

Hey guys,
Yes we have that script and yes it does what everyone dreams of: people can touch the sign and get an instant groupinvite.
To make it work, you need: pc with windows XP(sp2) or Vista .NET alternate account pc must be online 24/7 to work 24/7
To get it, you need to send an im (or note because ims get capped) to Wietse Cassini with the name of your alt and an e-mail adress and tell him when you are online yourself. He will make a .exe file for you and send it to your email. You need to install that on your pc. And after payment of 5000 ld you'll get the proper scripts to go with the .exe file. Takes about 20 minutes or less.
The reason that our sign is out of order in our store once in a while, is our todler that loooves to push some buttons, expecially the ones that comes with a little light like the off button of our pc.

Thanks. I have a script that when touched will give you a message, open up chat and click the blue link and this will open up the group tab automatically. The group must be set to open enrollment. edit: unlike some scripts similar to this, you do not need to add or find the Group UUID, just place the script in your group sign or prim, set the prim or sign to your group and it will do the rest for you and best of all its free. (you may have to also be active in your group as well can't remeber) If you want to view it working IM me inworld or I can send you a copy. This is to my knowledge the only way at the moment other than the above posting which requires running a computer 24/7 plus the 5000 price.

I will put one out for free at my place tonight. It's only good for open enrollment groups and you have to rezz it with the group hat on. It uses no bots. A simple process really. You can pick it up after 4 pm SL -- If it isn't out by then -- IM -- the brain is old and feeble CC http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tentacle/40/128

Kalderi
I sent you a copy of the script in world, just drop it in the prims contents and set the prim to the group you want, touch it and thats it.
Any problems let me know, you don't even have to have your group tag activated.
When finished touch the prim then a message will appear, open chat history and click the blue link and this should open your group window.
Also, open the script up you can add your own message as well, I added some notes for you.
This does not work with the older 1.18 versions for some reason, the blue link does not show but in Windlight is fine so I am assuming it will work in the later versions too.

For groups that are not set to open enrollment, where you want to let people auto join, it requires a bit of Off World (RL) programming, and the all trusty LibSecondLife.
Basically, you write a very small client that uses LibSecondLife to log in, with automated functions (a Bot). The object sends a message to the Bot, and the Bot in turn, sends the group invite. (only works while the Bot is logged in on an SL account, and if the Bot in turn is a member of the group, with permissions to invite people).
This is far from a simple task for the average person, (and even the average scripter), though there are some versed in programming, that will find the task to be easier, than those who are not so versed.
