I'm a little new to SL, so forgive me if this is a completely newb question.
I'd like an object that will automatically offer a group invite upon being touched. Is this possible?

Group invites and management cannot be scripted as yet.

What you can do though is set up a notecard dispenser to give them a notecard with info about the group and include names of people they can contact if they want to join (if it's invite only to join the group) or telling them that it's open enrollment and they can join on their own.

....or make the group open membership, but charge a small signup fee. The signup fee prevents most people from joining the group just because they happened to find it. You could even go so far as to refund the signup fee, but that has its own management issues |
