Here's my suggestion. The sim is full, and no one can enter, but i think people who bought and own land in the sim should always have access. Especially when something bad is happening and they need to get in immediatly to settle things.

I will agree... at least the Sim Owner should be able to if it is a private sim.

Approved, approved, approved.
This makes so much sense I'm surprised it hasn't come up before. Is there a proposal going, yet? |

This makes so much sense I'm surprised it hasn't come up before. It has, there was a thread just the other day in the Feature Suggestion forum on this issue. /13/7e/87103/1.html _____________________

While I think this sounds like a wonderful idea, I wonder if the programming necessary to perform this would be prohibitive. Think about it. The program would have to scan each time a person enters a sim to see if they own land. What about group land? Would it have to do that for each person in the group?
My understanding of the full sim thing is that it's based on the number of avatars one server can keep track of. So would the server have to keep track of the max number and then subtract from the amount it allows and use that as it's full sim number? If so, if you had groups are a sim with multiple owners, theen that would create an increased number of times the sim shows full. It seems like a good idea but it might cause hassles just so the few times a sim is full the owner can come in. Just a thoguht. _____________________

Just a thoguht. A good thought at that. I cannot imagine this happening on a consistent enough basis to warrant development time be used (or better still, taken away from other more pressing issues). |

Yep, many of the problems which arise are discussed in the thread I posted a link to.

I have no idea if this is still true BUT
a year ago or so If a person had their home location set to a parcel in a full sim they could still TP in by using the TP home option. Might be worth a try. |

April, if the sim isn't full, there's no reason to check for ownership. In other words, land ownership wouldn't be checked every time an av entered a sim, only as a secondary function to the av capacity check being positive.
If they implement this, they might have to tone down the max number of avs a sim can support to allow for an "average" number of owners to add to the total. Much wailing and knashing of teeth would insue as people see technological limitations as barriers to their freedom and paid for service et cetera. But it's still not a bad idea overall. _____________________

I'm pretty sure the 40 avatar limit is a quota, not a hard limit to what the software can handle... Linden Labs picked the number, like they picked many of the other limits, based on an educated assesment of where performance would become unacceptably bad.

So what point would the server know to check? Or are we talking psychic servers? How would they know ownership if they didn't scan all the time? At what point would the scan feature kick in? I have been in SL for over a year and a half and the full sim problem has occured infrequently. Maybe when there was an event and then, wouldn't an owner be on hand? It just seems like a lot of work for an infrequent problem. _____________________

The max number of AVs in a private sim can be changed in Estate.
