Possibly, if you want it to be. It would be pretty easy to set that up with all those economically chal...err gifted people running about all wanting to be SL's Top Economic Mind.

I don't see any evidence to suggest a crash. Can you elaborate?

Wasn't it at like L$257 when I predicted this? I'm too busy to scroll through the archives right now, but it looks like we're down 11 points on L$ value already. Awesome! :)

And you want to be taken seriously as a "virtual stockbroker??"

Isn't starting a market panic kind of an ethics violation?
(bad form at the very least, and indicative of inexperience.) :)

What do you mean? I've only offered commentary on what I've seen. Do you deny that I was right? :) Whether or not I said anything, we'd still be off 11 points from where we were when I predicted it. Let's face it, a comment in a barely read web forum doesn't influence the currency market in any way.

I bet anyone who took my advice at 257 is happy that I had the good nature to share my observation. The rest are stuck until it either comes back or doesn't. I think that to sit quietly and watch when I could help a few who are willing to see the writing on the wall would have been the ethical violation.

Generally I prefer to ignore outliers and pay attention to what's going on in the middle... I looked at the chart and didn't see anything too frightening, just a few outliers. The trend seems to indicate the L$ trading stronger against the US$.

I'm just looking at the in-world fundamentals, the volume figures, and what's for sale at what price. 257 to 268 is a downtrend though. In the new pricing scheme less is actually more.

You need to look at the market over the long term. You can’t just disregard what GOM showed before they left the scene. You also have to watch the other markets besides Lindex to see where the market is heading. IGE is buying at a much lower rate. Last time I looked the buying L$ on Lindex and IGE where close to being the same. People that want or need to cash out are again depressing the market. Lindex did bring in a influx of buyers, plus the growth that SL has had in the last few months also had many more buyers wanting then sellers. Now most of the “new” players have established themselves and don’t need as much money off the market. There are some that have even started selling back on the market. The downward pressure still exists on the market. It will continue to exist as long as SL has the same rules with 500L$/per week, plus bonuses. It really is nothing more then simple math.

Speaking of Lindex, what happened to the buy side we were promised? Along with everything else?

So essentially, we only have to wait until Feb. for a vitally important feature that should have been there pre-launch? Why the rush to open up and kill the resident provided open market with a system that isn't even ready for prime time? Maybe it's not a loss of faith in the currency that we're seeing, but more a loss of faith in another area manifesting as currency devaluation?

Or maybe people are simply still buying christmas presents.

You realize you are talking about a 4% drop. That's a blip.

Anyway, the last 30 days have been perhaps the most stable price since I joined SL this summer. And it's clear that demand for lindens has been rising, as volumes continue to increase. Not to say that it may decline further, but your "I told you so" attitude is just plain silly.

While waiting for a new powersupply I've had little to do, so I sat today for a while watching Lindex - reloading every few minutes while I did other things.. One thing I noticed is a group of 3 or 4 sellers every now and then dumping small ( < 10,000) amounts at prices not directly below the current amount - but 4 - 5 cents below..

I would say that either theres groups of 3 - 4 people who wish to rapidly get rid of small amounts of L$ simultaneously at semi-regular intervals...

...or of course you can draw your own conclusions (how many people are shouting the sky is falling again?).

If your still not busy, try graphing the time of sky-is-falling posts against the time of these $L dumps.

An alternative use of your time could also be making paper airplanes, lighting them on fire and tossing them out of the window.

*nods* The cash-out crowd at work again. Hardly cause for widespread panic. Besides, those odd little sellers could be the current crowd of "top economic minds" at work. *g*

I guess I'll have to create my own flaming air force, then. I'll be recreating, in flaming paper format, the fire bombing of Dresden in protest of the closing of the Berghoff restaurant in Chicago. It will all culminate with me skipping out on work tomorrow around noon and going to the Berghoff bar to get snockered.

If you're anywhere near LaSalle Street, watch out below...........
