The Foundation for Rich Content is offering up to 2000L a month in funding for rich content events. We can also provide public relations assistance and even land to hold your event on.

The Foundation for Rich Content (FFRC) exists to "foster diversity and richness in content and events in Second Life." So what is "rich content"? It is easy to define what rich content is not--Tringo/Slingo type games, "Best ____ in Club" events, yard sales, camping chairs, business events (like sales or grand openings), free slots/casino events, etc. These are fun events that lots of people enjoy--that's cool. But they are also events that are largely self-supporting.

The FFRC is here to help fill in the gaps in SL's cultural environment; to sponsor events that the marketplace and Linden Labs can't support. Examples of the kinds of events the FFRC is interested in supporting are:

* Visual Arts (examples: original art show, build competitions, group building projects with aesthetic goals, etc.)

* Performing Arts (examples: live music, theater, improv, spoken word, poetry, etc.)

* Other Cultural / Rich Content (examples: interactive games, sports, amusement parks, trivia matches, etc.)

* Education Events--not supported by Linden Labs (examples: cultural or scientific lectures, discussion groups, financial planning classes, etc.)

We have money to give away and assistance to offer-- right now. Don't sit around waiting for Linden Labs to do it for you. Contact the FFRC today.

Funding guidelines are available at:

Drop a IM to Gabe Lippmann, Persephone Phoenix, or me for more information. Or drop us a notecard with your completed application for funding.

An excellent community service. An excellent idea. Kudos to those involved and I sincerely hope people are taking advantage of this.

Should you wish advertising for this, I will donate Closer Look's services at no cost.

To donate, one merely need send money to FFRC Accounting Control (a dummy account made to collect and account for donations). All donors giving amounts higher than $1000 (though all donations add up to be sure) are further encouraged to send a logo of their business or organization to Carl Metropolitan for inclusion in our sponsor sign.

Thanks for your support of rich content in sl to our sponsors, and to potential applicants, what are you waiting for? FFRC members may also apply (though not vote on their own proposals) as only officers are funding exempt. If you want an application, check out the Jobs classified where apps are posted, or go to either of our offices in Daphne or Sami to pick up an application. (or IM me in world and I'd be happy to send you one.)

All donors giving amounts higher than $1000 ...

Uhm, sorry if I'm being dense, but is that Linden Dollars or US Dollars? Is this taken to be USD since Carl used the "2000L" notation in the original post?

That should have been Linden dollars. Talk about an order of magnitude typo :)

The FFRC wants you! :)

The group is a perfect opportunity for those of you looking to get a new event going or get some help with an event you have been hosting. Money, Marketing, Meeting Spot. We have it all.

Grab an application today. A simple 4 question notecard is all it takes.

Everyone is welcome to apply. Don't think you qualify as "Rich Content"? Please contact me, Persephone Phoenix or Carl Metropolitan or swing by a one of our weekly meetings on Sundays at 1PM (check the Event Listings to confirm time and location). Chances are you are exactly what we are looking for.

The FFRC got off their collective bums and organized an alternative way for residents to fund events. We've heard your laments about the end of LL event sponsorship. Check us out or get involved yourself!

Dont worry, we'll be bidding!

The blumfield residents association have already started putting places of interest into the area... proper organised and scheduled events are planned for the future, just takes a little time to get our ideas together.
