I was TP'ed by a linden last night to the new continent, and saw a ton of people there who simply flew in on their own, FIC and non-FIC. It was open to anyone last night, same as it is now. And like you, I got stuck, I had to relog at one point, and I ended up leaving the new sims because of it.

No conspiracy here... sorry. Just another evening of technical issues that affected everyone.

Aye, I had issues too. Some people used vehicles or jetpacks to get there faster. That might help.

I flew there last night.

ANWR got a little sticky because of the volume of people hanging out on the platform, but once I got through, it was clear sailing.

I flew in 3 times last night, no probs, today I re-mapped but mail servers on the new continet seem down so it's iffy if I can get an e-mail in, I still need to code a fix for that problem.

Read the posts in this thread, all of you, and see I am not the only one with problems flying in. Even some of the feted admit that they've had a little problem. There are lots of people there? Great. But quite a few got TP's in from their Lindens or their friends.

1. A land should be reachable by teleporter. It's not.
2. You shouldn't have to fly 2000 meters and dogleg around sim edges to each somewhere.
3. You should be able to fly in, period.
4. You can't. Not everyone can. Just as soon as one of YOU start having a problem, trust me, we'll hear about it.
5. I made the whole thing "about" the FIC merely because of that Linden TP issue. I thought that was inappropriate, frankly. I call them on it. A few people here get it.

Really, to get a telephone call across the ocean, I don't have to "know somebody". I don't have to collect cards and teddy bears from telephone linemen. I don't have to befriend AT&T employees. I don't have to ooh and ahh over each new telephone pole and telephone station that Verizon or AT&T installs. I dial the phone. I get a line. I make a phone call. They're a common carrier. It's not special. I don't have to love them up and no one accuses me of "hurting the telephone connection community" if I criticize them their service and poor connection, and on one asks me if I have "contributed to the telephone line community" or tells me I need to "get a life" if my phone call doesn't go through, and no one sneers that I don't have good technology or I'm a loser or a lame wannabee land baron. I just use the common carrier I pay for, and it works most of the time, and when it doesn't, I have them repair it. It's not personal. It's *just a connection*.

Why can't SL be more like a common carrier and less besotted with itself?

It always amuses me how long people can get away with trumped-up personal attacks and no mods do a thing about it.

I don't speculate in land, dearie. I buy land, and rent it or put projects on it. Sometimes, I buy land and resell it to someone for their project, or I might sell some parcels to cover costs of other non-profit projects. It's not being a "wannabee baron" because I don't wannabee a baron LOL. Do you? Your prices suggest that. I have no chip on my shoulder, and no, I don't use my RL funds to support a subsidized second life because that's more entertainment cost than I'd want to pay for something virtual that often has more nastiness than pleasures in it, instead, I try to get the land to pay some of its own cost like a business. Could you please get over youself and stop trying to prove to everyone how cool and special and well-funded and well-placed you are? It's really unseemly.

Stop bitching about a land sale from weeks ago then Prokofy. Get over it. You keep attacking me. Yet any time someone shoots back at you and it gets a little hot, you want to grab all your toys, run home and scream for a mod. Whatever.

See this is odd,

I went to purple and flew north a few times today and last night, yet had none of the problems you describe , well other then fps being at 5-20 but that was expected with the number of people doing the same as me.

There are currently no telehubs on the new land, so you have to fly, if you think this is a problem, please contact a linden.

I know of a few people who im'ed lindens and asked for teleports to the new land, and the lindens were nice and tp'd them, I dont see anything that points to FIC, unless you are just looking for some one to blame for your errors ?


On the note of FIC, it does not exsist, it never has, And as far as im concerned i see no problems with the lindens having social lives in SL as long as it does not affect their work, Im still waiting to see and example of it affecting their work....



But lets forget all that and let me sum up this post in one word.

I have an ancient machine and a very poor isp and I had no trouble at all flying up there. I will admit that things were unbelieveably laggy once I arrived. Telehubs are incredibly fascist tools, and I'd rather walk everywhere than be forced to use them. It's like being forced to ride on a bus. Flying up is the only way to go or you miss all of the wonderful, amusing, mysterious artifacts along the way. If you are too lazy to take the three minutes to fly up - and appreciate the scenery along the way - then I can only conclude that you are one sorry whining rumpswab, and if you wait on introductions to Lindens or anyone else, you won't get offered many tps and won't have to worry about having too many calling cards, either.

I have been attempting, along with others, to fly from Purple.

You do freeze and get stuck along sim seams as you often do on new sims.

This isn't "error" or "being new" it just IS.

You don't get satire, I don't want to have the chore of explaining it to you.

One of the chief features of the FIC is that it believes it doesn't exist, and its main denizens are constantly yammering about how they are not privileged.

What are examples of favoritism? Well, TP people to get them out to the new sim -- it's just a kind of fraternizing that doesn't seem like much but becomes annoying.

Or removing a bouncing script for one person but not another (I can't believe this happened, but there it is, testimony given to me).

Or putting Linden cards on the land of certain bigwigs, but not others.

Or celebrating the game-within-games of some players but not others, the products of some players, but not others -- just look in the forums and the town meetings and you see it everywhere.

It's the way of the world. I describe it, I report on it, but I play around it.

You know what I am SICK of?

The constant bitching about <insert Linden name> favors <insert resident name>. Who gives a shit?

The only thing that I'm more sick of is <insert resident name> bragging about <insert Linden name> came to my <insert event>. Who gives a shit?

Do something and stop worrying about what other people are doing.

The people who run this game, the Lindens, socialise with the residents and treat them as something other than a chore or a waste of bandwidth.

Would you rather they never logged in and instead played god with the servers without even having visible avatars? It's much more fun this way.

Prok, if you strike up a conversation with a Linden, they will likely chat with you. That is a HUGE PLUS! We have constant support and representatives around who don't treat us like numbers and dollar signs. Go ahead.. talk to them, they are not robots and they don't reserve their conversations for only certain people.

Duh, I know. I've done it. I've run into them at the welcome area now, and I've talked to the one working on a sim you are concerned about. I run into them when I hit "live help" all the time. So?

Sure, they're nice, interesting people, some of them. So?

That doesn't mitigate my point about the favoritism that does get shown and needs to be eradicated. The placement of the Linden card dispensers on the private properties of some special players is a perfect case in point. Until they either provide them to anyone who asks or make them available at random, I won't believe you, ever. And that's just one example.

Prokofy, you can't teleport there because there are no telehubs.
That's why you got the "one kilometer error".
It sounds like you also got stuck on a sim crossing. Were you wearing ANY attachments?
A single scripted prim can cause you to get stuck between sims.
If you try again without any attachments it should work.

I've always been a great admirer of your work, and it proves the oft-told point about why you can like Wagner or Pound but not the person or ideology.

No, I was not wearing any attachments. I always leave my prim dick on my other account in a safe place and I didn't have on my certified geek Barnesworth Anubis rhinestoned studded glasses, either, which are actually more important to me than my prim dick on my other account.

I have no scripted prims, Eggy. I avoid scripted prims to the extent one can in a game oppressed by them.

I fly and fly and FLY. I get stuck in all kinds of weird places, -400-400 or named sims not where I'm on the map, and so on. But that happens to me in Furness and Alston where I find my game will say Seascale at the top when I'm not there, and push me out to the void merely because I just try to fly from here or there.

This is a problem a certain percentage of the game players face. It's time to stop accusing them of being fuckwits for having this problem. They might have the best connections, contacts in their eyes and in their books, but they don't get to fly like you all do. Hence my squawking about FIC, as a form of hyperbole, satire, and rhetoric.

Last night, I finally got to fly in there but I still had to have somebody TP me to get me off the water on to something solid.

It's annoying like so many other things in the game but I'll live.
