Instead of the current system, where you ask someone to come to you, which enables anyone to send requests to pretty much everyone, and rewards them with dwell for whoever accepts..
Flip the system around to be more like the Join system on most mucks. The person who *WANTS* to hang out can send a join request to someone, who can accept to bring them there.
It won't affect two people who know eachother meeting up since whichever of them ends up actually going to the other, the end result is the same.
It would effectively halt unsolicited spam since a random event holder or club employee isn't going to want to *GO* to meet a newbie, or stranger, and loose their own dwell.
An additional boon would be making abit easier to have some defacto privacy in SL. Rather than friends wanting come over and flying up on you when yer unprepared or busy workin on something and don't want to be disturbed... they could request to be brought over, and you could politely decline.
An additional boon could be given to event holders actually with this system, for example within the time of the event listing they could set an 'automatic accept' of people requesting to be teleported, so anyone would be able to defacto teleport to an event they wanted to attend without having to request TP's or manually teleport and then fly and try and find it.

For the privacy issue, I think it's best if you couldn't mark the calling card on the map. I was convinced of this through postings on another thread that was just about that. But, then again.. there is only so much privacy one can have. I mean.. In RL, people do pop by unexpectedly... neverminding if you're busy or anything.

If you don't want to be tracked down, don't hand out your calling card. VERY simple concept.

I've never needed to delete a calling card yet, but if I do does the person's card for me get removed too? Or are they still able to 'stalk' you?

Their card doesn't get removed, but it does get deactivated, and a (cancelled) gets displayed after it.

I suggested that a long time ago, in the proper place, which is the feature feedback thread about revamping teleport offers.

I love this idea. seems kinda wierd at first but after pondering (I ponder well ) I think it would beat the current method hands down.
