Sure, I did, when I yanked it out of hibernation. Why? Still seems to be plenty of interest in the topic.

Now posted as Proposal #205

This idea keeps coming up, so I posted it as a proposal to vote on. So those who want caves, tunnels, and cool underground secret hideouts, go add your vote. I also mentioned some related ideas in the proposal regarding the "Air" material type for underwater builds, as that seemed similar enough to be worth mentioning.

i vote for terrain (mesh) prims that will take an uploaded raw file and act as a portable ground structure. with that we csn make realistic looking overhangs and cave lids. people can add small hills to nonterraformable ground above and below the water level as well as on platforms in the sky. ah just imagine those apts at 300m with real ground in the courtyard.

Terrain mesh prims would help a lot, but in most sims we can't dig much, so I guess we'd have to use the prims to build a mountain over where we want the cave to be. I could live with that. But introducing mesh prims might be just as problematic as allowing someone to dig a hole through the land.

I could easily see "terrain" prims being used for all kinds of things besides landscaping, too. :)

Apparently, Cory is not even aware that this is already on the feature proposal list:

(from the town hall)

Renee Marshall: Will there be a way to tunnel thru the land?
Cory Linden: Not on the list, but it's an idea that comes up once in a while. Good concept to add to the feature votng page.

Need more votes, folks....
