Hello All,

Will Someone Please Increase The Amount Of Groups Availiable? Come On linden! It is abit silly You have have 300 People On your List But only 25 Groups. People Make Groups for all Sorta Of Things, Like Company Updates, Products Updates, Clubs, Social Stuff, Estate Agents, Family Groups Or Anything In Between. It Is Really Silly That you can only have 25 Groups On your Account. Even 50 Would Be Good. So Many People Say Around SL Thats 25 Groups Is Two Little And Im Sure Everyone Will Agree With me.

So Please Linden Labs Or Whoever Does This, Please Increase Our Group Limit Size!!

Thanks,

Ronan

I agree, RP sims can take up to 5 alone, more would be nice.

I completely agree, we need more. It comes to a point where you are not willing to leave a group so you can join another and thus are left in the dark about the groups that you can't join because you have reached your 25 groups.

Problem with groups, Some clubs are making it mandatory for you to join to compete in their contests. As most designers in SL will tell you, I simply can't give up a group to join a club group because all of them are use for Vendor rental space. which is far more important. Clubs that do this are missing the boat with some good guests. Clubs and Stores should use the list servers available in game. It's worth it.. You don't use up someones group slots and still able to get word out about products and events. Save the groups for what they need to be use for. RP is the prime example. Groups have been abused since I have been in SL.. it's like a popularity contest. Upping them will be nice but we will be right back here saying. Go from 50 - 100 in a month.

Increase Group Limits

Linden - As someone who is considered a "noob" in SL, I can tell you without equivocation that 25 groups is not only paltry, it's somewhat laughable. One of your greatest assets in SL is that Roleplay can (and should) play a major part in freeing yourself form your first life. With hobbies, fandom & other avenues to outlet that "alter ego" all within each of us, constraining those streets of freedom & how you identify yourself is just insane.

Everything I've seen so far & everyone that I've met, with the exception of about 2 avatars, has been BEYOND GREAT. This is especially so of the SCC (Stargate RP) that I'm proud to be a part of.

I can only imagine that many others feel the same & I'd be supremely surprised that you have not heard more from SL'ers onthis topic. Please do what's right & increase the size to a number we can all live with & respect.

I agree, 25 groups isn't enough. Please someone hear us and increase the amount of groups we can have. Granted I don't know much about the List serv, but only having 25 groups isn't enough, especially when your RP'ing alot, each RP has atleast 2 or 3 groups along. Please help us!!

I completely agree with the fact that the group limit is too small, though it's true that we may come back and ask for another increase, 25 groups is far too little.

I used to RP in Midgar and I always became annoyed that I could not have a character for every faction due to the number of groups. Midgar has 3 major factions: ShinRa, AVA, and the WFL. each has at least 3 groups, so that different areas/levels of the factions could communicate better.

I also know that many other RP sims require several different groups in order to have some level of "control" over the players.

So yes we need more than a maximum of 25 groups that we can join. 50, or if possible 100 groups would be great.

It's obvious that you newbies never had to struggle with the 10 group slots we used to have :p.

As a resident who started with a 10 group limit in 2003, I have hit my 25 group limit several times.

An increase to 40-50 groups would be nice. Then i could finally join some update groups.

Yeah, 25 is silly. But 100 is a bit over the top. Why not try 35 and see how that is. Another alternitive is to put each group into a catagory:

Vendors/sales
Clubs
RP
Friends and family
Lifestyle.

Things like that, then allow about 15 in each catagory. Each one is allowed its own folder, and you dont have to hunt through the entire list to find one you want

It was a joke :).

Someone will stop by the feature suggestion forum every few weeks and make the same proposal and the reasons why it's not that trivial to simply raise the limit are rehashed again and again.

Finally, chiming in here is pointless. Feature proposals needs to go on the PJIRA and you can tell from the number of votes for http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2833 (raise group limit) that this is simply not something they care about.

Im somewhat of a noob to SL my self but in the month and a half i have been playing I have managed to become joined to @ major RP Groups, one of which takes 5 Group slots alone.

come on Linden sort this out, we really do need more slots for our pleasure!

I just voted on that topic also and i think it is a complete and utter joke that linden labs will not increase the limit after that many votes on the issue. ITs like they have all this stuff up about helping us and Putting in our requests but Dont actually listen to them!

I dont pay linden labs a yearly subscription for my account and own 4 sim;s just for them to not listen 2 what the majority of second life users want. Its just abit of a joke tbh.

Im truley disapointed in Them!

the increase group limits has been in jira for ages. i am watching it. every day there are one or two emails saying yes yes yes.

perhaps it takes up more precious memory of the grid, but i cant imagine how much more, since hundreds of islands are added every day.

speaking of memory or performance, whats with all the group IM error messages? its been a big mess lately.

Group limits are stuck where they are because there's this single big rapidly-updated group table that's being hammered to death. Which is why you get messages not going to groups when there's a lot of people online in a lot of groups.

So increasing group limits isn't going to be a small change, it's going to require big changes to the group database structure. Which is apparently still a lower priority than all the other database-related issues they're working on.
