PLEASE HELP US GET THIS FEATURE PASSED. (We are not using the voting system for this campaign because it is inadequate and as is often pointed out, may not really reflect the true opinions of SL members). Please help us with this email-based campaign.

One of the greatest problems with running a group right now is the lack of the ability of OFFICERS to MASS-SUBMIT A NOTECARD to all members of a group. This is a simple concept that is sadly lacking in SL functions. A group-notecard function would allow officers to keep group members notified of events, needs and information. It's a simple concept and greatly needed. Currently, the GROUP VOTE system is the only way to send such notifications, and it is an inefficient, insufficient, jerry-rigged way of accomplishing this.

YOU CAN HELP. If you agree with this idea, please, right now, while you're thinking of it, send an email to [email=SUPPORT@SECONDLIFE.COM]SUPPORT@SECONDLIFE.COM[/email]. In that email, please point out (using these words or your own):
"We have a great need for OFFICERS of a group to have the ability to be able to send a NOTECARD to every member of the group, en masse. Failure to have such an ability makes it very difficult to keep members posted of group functions and announcements. Please add this function as soon as possible, as it is badly needed. Only officers should have this ability, to prevent flooding of group member inventories. Thank you."
If we all send an email with this request, we are in hopes that Linden Labs will pay attention to this need. This ability will allow us to ELIMINATE USING THE VOTING SYSTEM to inform group members of necessary news and will allow officers to easily send out group newsletters! : )))

Yeah, and that voting system just bites. LOL
It doesn't allow for "against this proposal"... favors votes by position, and really (imho) doesn't reflect the true needs of users... only those who really know how to use the system. Petition method is best way in history of mankind to bring something to attention of boardroom.

Heh, we had something like a petition system here before the voting system came around. It sucked, repeat posts were rampant, unless you bothered to look for something that already had replies to it that was remotely related to your idea.

If you truly want this to be considered, post it to the voting system. LL does need to advertise it more, but its at least as or more widely known then this forum.

Here is the thread I started on exactly the same feature request at the end of last year:

Since the thread wandered over to the concept of group inventory, that is the thing I created a feature vote suggestion for: Prop 321 - Group Inventory. But in lieu of that, I'd be happy to be able to drop inventory to groups.
