What kind of foliage would you like to see in SL? Any particular flowers, trees or bushes? It would help me a lot to know what people are looking for.

i would like to see seasonal trees that change from spring to fall to winter foliage when the owner thouches them.

i also think it would be nice for the linden trees to be stretchable to twenty meters or even thirty so we could build some really large scale forest areas.

people really like flowering stuff and vine textures that can be laid over other prims. y'all be careful laying one alpha on top of another though. looking through two alpha textures, even as far as five meters apart, causes some pretty odd rendering.

Ivy, vines, perhaps those small roses that grow on kind of a viney plant (no idea of thier name). Basically plants that give an older feel to builds.

I REALLY want to see animals. Folliage adds a nice touch, but I think that the world would be just so much better with birds and feral animals.

As far as foliage goes, I'd like to see dead trees and plants.

Leaves. When I tried to make a treehouse (and of course the tree to go with it), I had a bear of a time trying to find a leaf texture that I could layer on and kinda approximate a full leafy look. Finally worked with a Wandering Jew texture, but it lacked that certain maple-leafy panache. I've seen a number of treehouses in SL and I think there might be a good market for a really well done multiple leaf texture.

Weeping willows. Spanish moss covered trees. Flowering cherry trees. Gnarled, creepy old 'swamp' trees. Creeping vines.

For flowers, some stargazer lilies, easter lily bushes, wild strawberry vines, large sunflowers, snapdragons, moonflowers, groundcover like flax. (and of course jonquilles :D )

Khamon, I agree seasonal trees would be awesome - I'd also really love to see some type of actual climate in SL, cloudy days, falling rain, frost on the ground, even if done on a sim by sim basis.

Hmm! You opened a can of worms, Rose :D

Oleander bushes
Crepe Myrtle
California cypress
California juniper (those really tall, skinny evergreen trees common in CA and in Italy)

(LOL, a theme is emerging: Privacy screens!)

Colorado Blue Spruce
Ground cover plants (vinca, succulents, etc.)
Live oak (big, ol' knotty trees)
Sago palm
Ancient pinon pine
Magnolia
Swamp Cypress (draped with Spanish moss would be very cool!)

I could go on and on, but these would be a great start!

I love jungle-rainforesty stuff, like huge flowers, big, thick leaves, rich, full colors. Tropical, tropical, tropical! There are way too many pine trees in SL.

Ivy. I got an ivy texture that I use all the time but I dont share it. Cuz I'm a brat like that. So moooooore ivy. And I love making builds that are old and taken over with the local vegetation. Textures with vines scaling over the the walls, trees with big roots poking from the ground. And orchids. The orchids have nothing to do with making builds look aged, I just like 'em. :p

Deciduous trees should have three forms, no leaves, autumn leaves, and summer leaves. And desert plants. Mesquite, seguro, barrel cactus, Utah juniper, pinyon pine, sage brush, etc. Aspen trees, I know we have something that looks like birch trees without leaves, but aspens are very different and often have more than one trunk.

One feature I'd really like to see with regard to trees is to be able to *turn off* the wind effect. I like to use some of the Linden plants indoors, but it just looks silly if they are blowing in the wind... inside the building. ;)

A great assortment of trees would be nice. Taller would be really nice.

A rose bush that's really a rose bush. Ivy. Groundcover. Waterplants. Cacti. Moss.

Important is that we can make them larger/smaller. I've got so many plants that can't be resized and that's why I end up not using them.

I'd love to see Higbee's oriental themed plants turned into Linden trees.

That would be awesome!! Is there a Linden suggestion box for something like this?

(Though I guess we should put it in the Higbee suggestion box first) :)

Ravi - do you mean one made out of multiple prims as opposed to a texture put on 3 prims as a picture and then rotated? Or are you refering to the picture of the rose bush specifically?

I would also like to have leafy vines and/or things with vine covered like walls or fences. :) I could work with just a good vine texture tho. I have no use for one but a apple tree would be cool to look at somewhere lol.

Huggerz,
MJ :)
