Please give us the ability to flag certain attachments as non-removeable. There are certain attachments I use all the time, and I hate that every time I drag a folder onto myself to change outfits, I lose the attachment and have to use the abysmal inventory window to refind it. Obviously, the ability to undo the non removeable status would also be needed

Excellent! </Merwan>
Totally endorse this product and/or service. Especially since I have several attachments that I tend to think of as "mostly permanent" as per your description. _____________________

Maybe not so much "permanent" as "sticky"...
Which is to say, the item would stay attached unless you explicitly detached it (using the pie menu or the inventory context menu) or attached another object at the same attachment point. Rather than a flag on the object, I'd make it an extra entry in the inventory context menu: in addition to "Wear" (or "Attach" or whatever it's called these days), have a "Wear Always" menu pick. So just dragging the item onto your AV wouldn't "stickify" it; you'd have to explicitly make a menu pick. |

Here is an old thread for all of you to think abouit. It is from November and was requesting pointers to objects in your inventory so the same object only existed once but could appear in many outfits. Phoenix Linden says in the thread this even used to exist in SL but they took it out because they couldn't find a clean way to represent it.

Love the idea, but I like calling it sticky better. Or something...since it's not really permanent.

Yes please!
(How about just calling it "Lock" then? Locking it on the avatar like we lock casual prims and link-sets.) |

The already existing 'Lock' checkbox could be used for this (on attachments only).
And yeah, inventory softlinks would rock. They could be called "Shortcuts" - most people should be able to grasp the concept of these. _____________________

Or, just a thought, you could have multiple copies of the attachment, and have it in each clothing folder you drag onto yourself? THis would work until The Lindens decide to do something about it

Bump!
I'd like to make an ammendment to this excellent idea of sticky attachments: Make it so that right clicking on a sticky attachment gives you the normal avatar pie menu. I almost always wear wings, and frequently misclick them when trying to get my my menu. If they're important enough to deserve a sticky flag, then we can be bothered to go into our inventory to unsticky them if we want to mess with them. Another solution: An option to treat all attachments with the normal avatar menu. A pie slice in the avatar menu would allow editing/removal of attachments, almost like it does now. |
