500 groups instead of 25 and group IM mute

Having started to become a merchant, I find I have to join a group every time I open a stall in a new location so that the stall doesn't get returned. You can end up needing a lot of groups that way ...


That makes me think that maybe the permissions system needs to be overhauled to make it more useful. Groups are, at best, a pain in the butt to use in such a situation... it's just that they're the only tool we have right now.

That's exactly what suspended groups would be for. You'd join the group to set up the stall, do that, then suspend it. The next five times you update your vendors you're not doing any building... you're just adding textures and content.. so you don't need to unsuspend it until three months later when you replace your vendor with a new model. So here's a group you use maybe four times a year. Why should it be taking up a group slot and adding to the database load the rest of the time?
