It would be nice to Mute a parcel. If you are offended by content... like signs, porn, or whatever.

I know in "other" 3D chat environments you can "mute" a person, and they simply disappear from your view. If we could Mute a parcel, then so many issues in neighborhoods could resolved.

Please let me know your feedback. I am not sure of the technical restrictions of this idea, but I think it would surly be beneficial.

Mute A Parcel is similar to my Filter Area idea (see sig) but I feel Filter Area is more flexible. Lets say you have a builder living next door to you and he has a very nice house and landscape, but he also has his mini-sandbox. If you mute his parcel, you block even his nice house. But if you had Filter Area, you could simply filter the area of his sandbox.

I have more problems with Zap's ideas though. If I have 4 good neighbors and 1 ugly build, why would I want to only see my stuff if 4 out of 5 are fine? And if I filtered by object I'd have to filter each and every one of them. That would be a huge list and a pain to maintain. Also what if there's a script producing a new object, wouldnt that object have a different ID than the one before? You could mute by object name, but what if its something common, like "object"?

I like both ideas but prefer mine. However anything at this point would be nice (well as long as its an idea that doesnt increase server/network load).

That’s a very good point. I had not known about that future. Indeed if you can adjust the view while in edited mode, then surly you can carry this over to standard view with little technical complications.

Is this even being considered? Is there a proposition started to implement this? Or, is it just ideas rattling around?
