They let us know when we aren't allowed somewhere. They are the horizontal red lines around land that you don't have acces to.

But when you're chilling out next door, they are SO ANNOYING TO LOOK AT.

PLEEEEEAAAASSSEEEE let us toggle them off.

I endorse this. It could even be in the Debug. I see no reason why not to have it toggable.

Funny, we just covered the exact same topic a few days ago:
/13/99/23424/1.html :p

Maybe if we keep creating more and more threads about it, the Lindens will take a hint? :D

Yes, they're extremely annoying, especially for those who have tiny plots and insensitive neighbours whose security lines are permanently visible inside the small plot's house.

These security lines need to be on a control toggle, a separate one from the property lines which aren't intrusive.

*squinting eyes now at the horribly bright forum* dang please take pity on us creatures of the night.....

I agree on two things there. For one the no access lines are not only an eyesore, but they're also a navigational hazzard for low flying/sailing/driving/submarinal vehicles. I myself have lost a vehicle on occasion in these areas and ocassionally glitch when I run into one just flying around. There's one on the northwestern side of the sim to the south of Urdu I keep ramming into. And with my ISP... I more often than I like to have to restart my client after planting my nose in it.

As for us creatures of the night... I wish I hadn't left my sunglasses in my glovebox...

YES PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
I have red lines penetrating my house all the time due to SL's alpha sorting problems!
I wonder if those "invisible" prims would help get rid of them... hmm...

On the other thread, Strife Onizuka offered this solution. It works great. It is not as good as a toggle, but it is a good fix in the meantime. I changed my setting as suggested below and I no longer see the red bars near my place.

From: someone
you can disable them all together by editing
"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\app_settings\viewerart.ini"
and search and replace

Code:
5d3e196b-fd4d-ada7-e4c1-99f8e9f1cfbf
with

Code:
8cbfcd6f-798d-9064-ac1f-5d75060247ab

the 8cbf key is a transparent texture. You can change all the images and avatar animations by editing this file. By changing other files in the app_settings directory you change most of how the client looks.

And before editing those files it would be wise to copy them to another location should one make a blunder when editing. :D

Yes, Millie, thats always good advice when changing files. I made a copy of the original in case something went wrong, but it in this case it was a really simple, painless change that was made. To make it easier to find, it is about halfway into the file and the number to replace preceeds this named text, noentrypasslines.tga

Don't forget to keep a copy of the edited file handy, as it will revert back to the original settings on each version update.

I imagine this will have to be modified after every patch.

Linden Lab, can we have a fix for this so that we don't have to hack the code? ;)

One of the most interesting things of the "invisible" textures is it dose :)

Dear Legith,

Thank you for your report. We are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it, however I don't have a time frame for when it might be fixed.

Regards,
Kelly

When their are multiple textures with transparencies neer eachother. often the one in the disstance is drawn in front of the closer one. (in this case my wall, and the "blocked" border) fyi I'm running on a 1.4GHz Athlon, with a Nvidia Geforce 3, 768 MB ram, in WIndowsXP

Well hopefully it gets fixed.....

as for the setting the texture to something else.. wonder how it would look for the lines to be the "invisible" texture :D

Eggy, I just checked and my free moddable invisiprim is still working fine. If you want a copy, you can grab it at my home in Tilitr.
