Put back the General Forum?

umm.. haha.. Ok. I'm a message board refresher. And I'm sitting here watching these horrid changes taking place to the forums (yet again)... and I can't find the General Forum.

Or the standard script forum. (sure we now have 3 scripting forums which are all incompatible with general queries.)

yes we need a general forum, why are you trying to kill that off? do you really think this is a good idea?

Sorry for my repetitive "Guys, just go to the forums archives" posts--realized shortly after I posted them that those threads were frozen in stone. My question is: which Lindens frequent the SL forums enough (HAHAHA!!!) to know what's best for our community? And if so, why didn't they hear our plea for specific forums (for advertising, land sales, etc) but instead -removed- our very means of thoughtful communication? Lame lame lame.

Feel free to stone me, but I like the changes. (besides Daniel's accidental mistake)

Any usefull information that was provided on General and anything else can be found on other topics.

This just gets rid of all the harrasing, ranting, and hurtfullness that went on. (doubtfully it will really do that, but hey heres hoping)

If you want communication, talk in world, if you want to rant, how about IM the person your mad at and have a conversation?

Theres always other fansite forums also.

I'd much rather see the SL official forums to become a place for good information and a resource of knowledge shared between users.

This is the single most hair-brained, senseless, outrageous, disrespectful thing I've had the dubious honor of seeing the lindens do. Its the first time I've ever questioned if I really want to be here.

And I just signed a new person up. I feel guilty now.

Yes, a general forum is essential to the community aspect here. Please bring it back.

This is so lame. Sanitize, sanitize. The Lindens seem to want to push general discussion onto fan boards. That might be ok if there were a well known fan site to go to. The only fan site I know of with a forum is sluniverse.com. It isn't very active so far. Cristiano, maybe it is time to do some heavy promotion of your site.

Bring back the OT forum too (or 'Real world' or whatever the heck it's called nowadays)

I could understand it if sl were a game with a very specific goal or mission...but we are simulating our own lives. Our avatars are a representation of our true selves. If you will take away our freedom to communicate to protect a few virgin ears...to keep at bay a few scathing posts when the greater percentage of threads and posts were written in a respectable adult manner you may as well make us go to the bathroom in world and make our own food so that the few who don't get the point in sl will have something to do.

You knowingly gave us those very specific forums. You knowingly created an outlet to serve as a community link for people to get to know each other in a deeper manner who may not have otherwise met in world. The fact that the world is growing is but another reason why those types of forums are necessary in a virtual community based on real people instead of an online ogre shooting wizard avatar with a backstory...The General discussion and Real world forums are the backstory of SL...You just deleted a vital part of SL history.

We don't need the whole thing to be reverted to what we had. what we need is two forums brought back, in their own category would be even better.

those are the basic things we need to have here. it was these two aspects that let the community get to know each other better, that created a deeper sense of 'family'. it's what helped create this 'most tightly knit community of any MMO'. those are not merely my own thoughts, these are comments that OUTSIDERS have observed!

we've been partially stripped of those bonds.

please, Lindens, give us back our 'family rooms'.
