We Christians need a place to connect with one another! To be able to talk and discuss our role here in SL. So I put together a yahoo group so we can keep connected. And we can do this while no inworld!
I'm looking for a logo, please contact me if you would like to help me!
Here is more info on the group!!

Christian Connection Second Life!
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/christianconnectionsl/

Since we don’t have our own forum in the Second Life homepage, we need a place to keep in touch. Announce our ministries, events and meetings. A place where we can connect and share our thoughts and concerns about SL. And a just plain get to know one another!

If you’re a Christian and a member of the Second Life Community, then this group is a must!!! Tell your Christian friends! This is a great place to keep in touch while NOT inworld!

Make sure, after you join, to list your Church, ministry, business, group, and service or trade in the files section!

We welcome you to post anything you have going on that you feel other Christians may enjoy. Church services, bible studies, support meetings, events, get togethers ect.

Work of Fiction
03-30-2007 12:32
Uhm, you do know that the bible is a work of fiction right? When you die, you're not really gonna be able to fly around up in the clouds like you do here in SL. When you die, you will be dead. Remember what it was like before you were born? It'll be just like that.

edit to add one of my fav. bible verses:

Ezekiel 23:20
For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

Now we see why there are no forums dedicated to any religion here.
Did you really need to post that comment Alastair?

That is really awesome. I am CEO of Wings of Hope magazine, the first christian magazine in SL. You can download our pdf at www.wingsofhopemag.com or see us in world. Type in Wings of Hope in search and that will take you to our sim that we just purchased. It is a sim devoted to God. We have a beautiful church there, christian nightclub, a prayer garden, men and womens ministrys and an RL christian counselor working there, as well as our magazine headquarters.

Is there a problem? This is a thread about Christianity right? The quote is an actual quote from the "holy book" that christians use? What's the problem?

This thread is not about christianity (that discussion would require a whole forum for itself) but about the setting up of a group for christians in secondlife. Regardless of whether your post contained a quote from the bible, you attacked a core part of their religion for no apparent reason. This is otherwise known as trolling.

@Aislinn Jewell, I am not a believer but I wish you luck with the new group. It's always useful to have an external means of communication :)

I am in agreement with you, Sys. While Agnostic myself, I can understand the sarcastic wit behind the comments, and in the right place even chuckle myself, but this isn't the place. Well said.

The problem, Alastair, is an unwarranted, unnecesary attack on other people's belief systems. We Christians are far from perfect there and some of us indulge in the same behavior. That doesn't make it right though. Would youhave attacked other religeous people for wanting to form a group to discuss their common faith? No, I doubt it...but of course Christians are fair game lately.

I'm sure you are a VERY busy person with far, far more important things to do than to waste time belittling others right?

Hello, while I respect everyone opinions, and I respect everyones right to share thier opinion, I ask that we please end this discussion.

I started this thread, and I feel somewhat responsible.........that it has turned into somthing I was not intending. I would hate to see this thread closed.

So I respectfully ask that unless if has something to do with my original topic, that no more 'talk' happens.

Thank you!!

God sends 2 bears to eat 42 little kids.

2 Kings 2

2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them

I'm an Atheist, and I think this is a nice idea. I have never once even heard the word Christian in my few months of playing SL. There's a place for everyone here though. Diversity...mmmmm...isn't it delicious? I think so. This is simply an advertisement for people who share a common interest to enjoy it on a 3rd party site and in a SL group if they want to. There's nothing wrong with that. Good luck with your group.

Good luck with your group. Alastair seems to be resisting so hard I suspect he is teetering on the edge of becoming a convert and so is fighting it all the way. Stay tuned...

There is no forum cause you don't deserve one. IF Christians got a separate forum then wiccans could have one too, right?

We have our own group(s) though. You can too in game. Also you can use other web resources and have your own forums elsewhere.

I've seen quite a few Christian groups in game though.

They're not hard to find.

But LL can't really give you forums here, unless they want to give every other religion forums to be fair.

Otherwise they'd be making a bad business decision and condoning one religion over any others.

I agree ,it would create divisions, one christian/catholic forum wouldn't be enough either with all the splinter groups needing their own too then, then all the other religions start too, and we need a group for Atheist beliefs too then :)

Better to keep religion as it is in private groups etc, rather than push it at the population, any religious group would just attract griefing posters anyway.

Normally, I don't agree with anything you say but this one is good. :)

Best of luck (or divine intervention maybe) with the group, Alastair.

You totally missed the point. She wasn't talking about Linden Labs. She was talking about Yahoo.

I wasn't asking for a forum :D
I wasn't trying to stir up trouble!
I wasn't trying to offend anyone or anyones belief!

I was simply annoucing to other SL members who are Christians that I've created a yahoo group so we have a nice place to annouce our events, services and meetings to each other.

I actually like the yahoo group as a way to communicate and advertise, as we can use the files section to list our business, services and events AND we are offered a bit of privacy from people who like to stir things up a bit.

I want to thank all who wished my group luck!

Well done, dear. You have remained classy throughout all of this.
I wish you luck.

Alastair, here's a quote for ya, from the Gospel According To Mickey:

"No one wants to hear it. If you have something interesting or new to say, then fine, but just outright attacking the beliefs an obviously nice person just trying to announce the formation of a group where they can share?

Ahhhh, Shaddap."
