To clarify: a fansite... is a fansite. And this is a forum about SL-related fansites, including not just Stratics--which I'm curious to learn more about since you explained more to me before!--but other 3rd-party forums as well. It's the right place.

Please have a look at the other threads already here to get a better feel for what's appropriate.

If you wish to give more "exposure" and drive traffic, you're most certainly welcome to get other Resis who're interested to come here and post! ^____^

But a 'fansite' gives the impression of some individual's tiny little effort, probably hosted on something like Geocities with pop-up hell - not something of the size and reputation that Stratics has.



Quite how are people meant to find out when it's tucked away in some backwater boonies part of the forums?

That perception is variable. We have many kinds and sizes of fansites here. Some are very large and growing quickly, others are modest and happy to be that way. I don't judge based on merit; I welcome the diversity.



As I'm fond of Robin Linden quoting Gandhi, "Be the change". You can keep posting to the Stratics thread, encourage friends to take a look. If some people don't know, guide them here. Be the change.

I'd rather not be guided by quotes from terrorists and revolutionaries, thankyou.

Stratics will be a definite change from the way these forums are run, and I for one welcome that.

That's your opinion, but don't force it on me by insisting that the rules don't apply to you (or Stratics), and that the fansite posting should be allowed to be anywhere.

I've already mentioned my definition of a 'fansite' which conjurs up images of a popup infested, tacky Geocities hosted, badly formatted, glaringly full of animated GIFS, with a few pictures and little content page or three.

Stratics is a professional organisation. Not a 'fansite' by my definition. Have you looked lately? If the 'content guides' on this new site are half as good as the ones on the Sims Online site that I've been using all the time, it's certainly going to make life a lot easier for new players.

You're just being absurd, Lewis. This is Linden Lab's forums. It's their definition that's used. Get over your silly connotations and post things in the right forum, as Torley has pointed you towards.

The olsen twins have some really profesional looking fansites.
