Ahern: The Great Trip-neg Bomb!

Ok, I just started going to Ahern.. mostly because it is an absolute trainwreck. There is this person here (I won't name names.. but let's just say she REALLY hates AV sex) randomly giving out trip-negs to newbies. I think she has a point to make about the meaningless nature of ratings because of the wipe, however her gut-shot insults to everyone around her kinda make me think twice.

So I have to ask... how would you react to joining SL, rezzing, and then being immediately trip-negged? Even if you find ratings kinda dumb, wouldn't the intentions behind it put you off?

People said that they were filing abuse reports, but I didn't see a Linden show up. Could there be any worse way to welcome new people into SL?

That's about the lamest thing I've ever heard. I can understand people feeling that ratings have less meaning now but to make your point by taking it out on brand new people is just a truly rotten thing to do. It truly disgusts me.

it's funny but i think she is breaking the triple neg game rules. LL killed the thread, but it clearly stated an av must be atleast 2 months old or their ratings must exceed a total of 60. bad sportsmanship, girl!

Yes that is horrible - but then person X's behavior has always disgusted me.

I won't mince words and I am gentle, but basically, I haven't felt many good Welcome vibes at Ahern recently. Clearly not as much as when I first started, and this isn't a matter of nostalgic retrorocket boosting either -- there are definite negative events, recurring, I've observed.

Since the WA is the first place new avs turn up, a bad first impression may send them logging off and ending their trial, and thus ending their Second Life. Who knows what quick reactions may shut someone's possible bright future. It's hypothetical, but forthcoming great contributors to the community might never come to be upon being treated badly. Like a baby learning to crawl before it becomes a strong adult, the crushing of a boot (figuratively speaking) will do far more damage to the seed than the tree.

Several amazing individuals who I was accustomed to seeing and learning from, like Kex Godel and Toy LaFollette, are no longer there. Change happens, but this leaves a void and I haven't felt a new corresponding presence of SL Mentors. The onus is on no one, but this are merely the humble observations of a raving melongirl.

Chances are new avs won't have much of a voice either, because they likely have not heard of the Forums or ways to share these concerns -- until later in the timeline.

I remember my first day in Ahern, I got trip neg rated by someone that I had been chatting with, albeit it, he did turn nasty, neg rate me then disappeared, I had NO clue what ratings even were on my first day until someone told me, I went back the next day and spoke to this person again and he had no recollection of neg rating me at all and immediately took them back , I assume he was either wasted, or it was someone else on his account *sigh*

I was VERY put off tho, I wondered what the hell other ppl were like if this asshat had done this on my very first day! Thankfully everyone else in the WA were lovely, and I stayed

Is that sort of behavior abuse reportable? If not then it should be. Maybe LL needs to take some action and ban some of the jerks from the WA period. I know that it consists of a couple of sims but if a person is being a jerk they do not deserve to hang out there.

I was in the Welcome Area this morning (UK time). Someone was handing out neg ratings and there was a general nastiness going on among a few of the other avs. On other occasions I have seen some avs be downright rude to newbies. What sort of impression does this give?

A Linden was there and I IM'd him asking if he could do anything. He said he couldn't. All I know is, had I been greeted with this after going through induction island, I would have logged right out again.

Maybe the Welcome area should be only for Linden liaisons, mentors and newbies - I don't know, but it's completely out of control.
