Anyhooo.

Hiro, another part of this conversation had the nameless Pitt telling me "but..but..I thought SL was a Loving Community!! What Panda's doing is NOT very loving.."

So, I'm thinking you might take them to..what..? PimpNHo? Club Elite? Perilous Pleasures? And show them exactly how 'loving' the SL community can be?

Instead of a kegger, I'm thinking of a fish fry and inviting the small fry to... nevermind.

Does anyone else find it so ironic that a class studying digital communication has come to a 3D world, and through *exploration* find that one basic form of communication has not changed since man began to grasp a club?

I find it so ironic that panda is using a gun to communicate with a few of the Pitts. Action speaks louder than words in digital communication?

Panda was quite impressive that night, laser beams flashing from dual seburo's. By the time the Pitt's saw the red light, it was already too late for them.

I do feel bad for some of the students. Their "professor" led them astray as to what to expect. They would have had a real bitchin' time if they had just been set loose. It would have been so cool to have them reconvene after a few months, telling tales of being pimped out, shot at, land baroned, event abused and all the other things we deal with on a daily basis.

I would be interested to see how many of them buy alts to they can experience the SL we all know and love.

I was really hoping that this digital communications class would learn of the new languages being created on the net, and especially in each of the online communities.

While they have a lot to learn, a paper on how new languages are developed -- similar to Kathy Yamamoto's SL dictionary, but used to define and show how SL'ians express themselves...

"Her stuff is so cool, but she's so passe, she still sells her babies in boxes..."

"Feck the lag, the border ghosted my boat, and I did a Ruth when I TP'd."

Anyone else have any other expressions to hand out for the class assignment?

Lynn.. while I think you're examples are hilarious, I think that a "digital discourse" class would find this information extremely useful. Great idea.

This would be awesome to bring up at the event that I just posted.
