There are often panics of one kind or another in SL whether it be outrageously priced land or the low price of the Linden. I've never bought either for the purpose of investment. I'm buying a lot of Lindens now though because while it may go down further short term my intuition tells me it's sure to go up long term. Time will tell if I made the right choice.
[edited to add] When it comes down to it I haven't played SL to make money and it still isn't any big focus for me. But what the heck. Here is an opportunity I understand. A lot better than I understand the real stock market anyway. Beats just having it sit around in a savings account.

Like I've said elsewhere - SL is (like life) just a game.
For me, I think l$ is an amusing way of keeping score. I encourage other people to keep score in the same and different ways. However, this is how I keep score and how I couch the game. For those who don't think l$ is a great way to keep score, I suggest you consider ways in changing the rules so it becomes a better way of keeping score. _____________________

quick question since i'm not an economist.... when everyone's running around saying the L$ is devaluating and such and it's becoming worthless, you mean compared to real money right? cause with land prices falling the L$ buys alot more in sl now.

The insults actually haven't been that bad this time around. But that's probably because I've just started ignoring a lot of people.. As for it being sad .. well, I think we all play the game differently. I think it's awesome that you don't keep score, I think it's sad that you can't be happy about how I keep score. _____________________

If I wanted a conspiracy theory - and that's a big *if* a good place to start would be to look at how much is being dumped and then comparing it to the daily updated leaderboards... if you notice, say, the number one holder there going down by a similar amount - you could start your theory there.
I'm not implying - or suggesting anything here , I'm just saying if you wanted to create a conspiracy theory, thats a much more viable place to start basing it. Siggy. _____________________

since there is now a five alt rule, i don't think anyone will mind if i mention this.
someone once told me they knew a person with several hundred alts and that the person had written a program to log in the avs and have them pay an object for them every week. anyway i have no recollections of anymore information beyond that. i was really bothered by this knowledge but a few days later LL came out with the 5 alt limit so i calmly went back to sucking you all dry on land trading. _____________________

Actually, I hafta come clean. It's me. Sorry. Well, me and my 26 alts so far. See, it works like this: I create a new account, get in game, rate whore like crazy for 3 days, networking, getting to know people etc. Well, you know what SL is like, I mean you can be best friends forever in under 2 days and love a lifetime in 3. So I gain a few people's trust and affections with each alt (sometimes get married), outline a great business plan for which I need money for land and uploads etc, and I borrow a few k off of my new found best friends. Sometimes they'll even let me be an officer in their group and I can sell their deeded land from right under them as a bonus. And then I simply dont renew the account and then sell the whole lot on GOM, see? And now half the people in world havent got the Lindens to spend because I've been fleecing them of all their money. And I can tell you for nothing that I'm not the only person doing it - net result, recession. Disclaimer: The only part of the above that is prolly true is that other people are doing it.
