This is what happens in a community when people mistreat a member. I've seen it happen over and over, especially in the forums.

We're not just strangers, we're family -- and tonight we're losing a member.

Letting people know your opinion is important but being a good person is even more important.

I once had a Christmas spirt, there was this cute girl named Kristen that I met at a party and she was kinda drunk and went home with me.

I'd been drinking a little too much too, so the spirt probably came earlier than it should have, but she was either too polite or too drunk to say anything about it.

She had this annoying tendancy to snore, too, and fortunately she seemed too drunk to feel anything when I used my feet to push her out of the bed. If she'd been conscious enough to be aware of it, I might have felt guilty.

All in all, a very good night.

That's one example, Ulrika. It's also what happens when one member dismisses new ideas and thinks you're 'wrong' if you think many things can co-exist in harmony. Tantrums also don't help.

There's a long history with her and try as I might, I was never able to get across the point that money and creativity can both have happy lives in SL.

Oh well.

Course, I was not at all thrilled about being named as a little devil horned pitchfork wielding villager that drove her out, but what is one to do?

From one devil-horned pitchfork-wielding villager to another I understand what you're saying.

Catherine has always opposed my position on government vehemently (I was actually shocked a few days ago when she agreed with me on the land-baron taxation issue, as we've never actually agreed). :) Nonetheless, I've always tried to be respectful to her.

Could it be that in your zeal to promote your point of view that you took it too far and an apology might be in order?

We need to introduce you to Cyrus, if you haven't already met him/her. ;)

This is possible, but early on I learned that some people on the forums are much more emotional and sensitive than others. Cat is an extremely spirited individual, as am I. As we get worked up into our frenzies, I've always tried to keep it to a certain level... basically biting my tongue.

As for the apology, no. As I've said, I will not apologize for expressing what I believe, but I am sorry to lose a creator.

This is what happens when people come to SL to concoct scandal and partake in drama. I'm not here to sit in the audience of every drama queen's weekly meltdown. If anything drains my desire to be a member of the SL community, it's having to endure the grating, juvenile rantings of yet another "aggrieved" person.

When someone espouses an intolerant and illogical opinion, and then begins to blatantly attack anyone who dissents, I'd say that they made a willing choice to not be part of the family. For all of the apologies which Ulrika has been soliciting, I've not yet seen one that has been directed at the original offending party. From page 1 of the original thread, the person in question was hostile, derisive, and dismissive of anyone who disagreed.

At some point SL will grow so large that the forum, out of necessity, will implement a strict no-personal-issues policy on the forum, and all the drama will... *sigh* ... just move to a privately run forum.

P.S. Feel free to disagree with me. I don't celebrate Christmas, so I doubt I've got any Christmas spirit to lose.

P.P.S. Don't invite me to the family reunion, Ulrika. I don't like potato salad or watermelon guns.

That's a logical fallacy.

There is nothing about espousing intolerant and illogical opinions that implies a desire to leave a family.

Go hug her now. Go on. I'll wait. :)

Ulrika,

What about the third point which I mentioned, just a few words past the other two points which you mentioned? If a family member attempts to commit fratricide, should they still be considered family? What about Cujo? Was he still the family dog?

Not you, Cy. Juro said he was being called the villager by Catherine. Cy... you're more like... the misaccused harlot running from the angry villagers... oooh, how you love them to chase you, eh? =p

(I don't know what the heck that's supposed to mean)
