If you dont know allready, Lance LeFay and I, (mostly lance, icame up with whole concept) have created a script which will allow damage outside of jessie, it wont kill you, just freeze you for a minute. but this may mean battles in every sim, i just want to hear your reactions to that.

I don't really see a point unless there's an event or something...if people want to fight in SL they'll go to Jessie or Rizal won't they? It sounds like it'd have great applications for events outside of Jessie, but that's all I can think of.

Well, Jessie is only one sim, and its extremely hard to have to opposing factions in the same sim without crowding eachother, and lasertag doesent use vehicles, and isnt diverse at all, or realistic.

jellin, this serves no threat to people that dont want to play, you have to have the script equiped, it cannot, repeat, cannot do anything to anyone else.

With the proper people it will be useful and fun, but I will ask you all out there, especially the long time people. Who really would use it just for combat? Griefing would be a factor to consider on this. If it freezes the hit person for a said number of seconds, then that could and WOULD be used to grief (and also maybe stop it, who knows).

You all have seen the push scripts running around there. Many of you have experienced it first hand. Yes the scripts were fun to rid the world of griefers, until they get it too and went around throwing people numerous sims over or even up into the sky offworld.

With at least one or two sims being wholely damage oriented, it was made 'lawless' for a reason. To open up that lawlessness to the entire world could and would probably have a very negative side effect to it.

Rather than make it the whole world. I would request more 'open damage' sims like Jessie. The Lindens should listen to the ones who want it to see if there really ARE enough wanting such a thing (they do listen ya know LoL).

That's my 2 dollars (blame inflation).

sorry for the misconception, the bullet tells a damage script, in the special gun, that you are dead, then it freezes the person who has been shot, but that can only happen to other players.

I don't see any harm in that then, but will the bullets push or anything of that nature? Some have done that 'realism' thing by making the bullets jerk a person some to cause that effect and I was just curious if these will the old bullets of this stuff I see and hear about.

the bullets do not push (not sure about tank shells, but this would just be because of their mass), they will just make the "dead" person do the dead animation

I think this is an excellent idea for a wargame event in the vehicle park, like capture the flag. That's a nice innovation guys. I like that the guns only affect the players who are equipped with your script.

i wish this was able in the vehicle sims, only they are mostly no-build areas.

If 'civilians' are immune to this, then I retract my statement. Sounds pretty cool actually.

I'd like to collect an opinion on combat in the vehicle sims, as well. Garth has come up with a system for vehicular combat that does not involve any pushing or bullets or avatar damage (but does involve your vehicle crashing spectacularly).

Would folks consider this an acceptable use of the vehicle park?

I dont want someone coming and "freezing" me while Im trying to do something. If I'm in the mood to fight, I will go to a damage area. I would see these items as grief tools and report anyone hitting me in a non damage area (unless it was someone I know and clearly a joke).

Freezing and other adverse effects won't happen to you unless you're carrying one of the guns these guys make. Think of it as an "opt-in" game-wide combat system.

It sounds like a good idea to me. Jessie is just too cramped for combat.

I think this is great! Frankly, I think it's a much better way in general to handle combat - instead of making it geographically based, make it a choice people make that follows them! WTG, Cy!

As regards the vehicle sims, and nobuild weaponry, didn't someone post a solution to a nobuild gun in the forums a while back - used pre-rezzed ammunition which follows the user.

IMNSHO an addition such as this makes things better, as you have to run to a "safe" build area to fully reload. Either that or get bullets that haven't damaged people to come back to you after a while...

So long as all participants are consensual, wearing the guns as you mentioned, this sounds like a GREAT idea.

Your bullets must also be light enough, as discussed, to not push anyone hit accidentally. Bear in mind that folks can report that bullet collision with the incident reporter, but that seems like appropriate pressure to aim carefully.

Feels a bit like TAG - see how it works and show it to Haney, etc if you get a chance.

I'd be happy to play once in a while - IM me in-world.
