As long as I don't get a bowling shirt like There.com, I am fine....

Hey how about an increase of tier for free, for everyone?

maybe we could make this outage a memorable day in SLs history? maybe next year it can be celebrated and we can make t-shirts with bad seams and a logo in the middle saying 'LL made me bald'

Items lost becouse of upgrades
Items bought but never recieved (time spent with each seller trying to get the items)
Hours spent sitting trying to get back into SL
Once getting into SL stuck at home cuz I can't tp without crashing (again)
Time and money lost cuz I can't work in SL (meanwhile SL billing continues to get their payments from me like clockwork)

ToS has zero to do with staying in business

I agree with you 100% Palomma, but unfortunatly, LL can do pretty much whatever they want. In their TOS they state that they are not liable to any outages people may expierience and do not have to refund us.

It's a bummer for us but it puts an extra doughnut on Philip's desk every mornin!

EDIT: fixed some SP

The statement LL can do whatever they want, is of course true, but as many businesses, especially online games have learned, that attitude is a very costly gamble. Alot of game developers have taken this approach and are no longer in the "game". LL isn't making it's profits on the residents who pay a one time fee of $9.95.

That being said, I do not expect a refund, a credit would be nice, but I don't expect that either. What I hope is that LL learns from this costly incident three very important things, and I say this with great respect for what Corey and his brilliant team have done.

First this is a service they provide to customers and it is those customers who keep them in business. Customer service at LL frankly is one of the worst I have had the displeasure to deal with. I have worked with high end systems longer than most and I don't appriciate being told there server problems are caused by my firewall. But the form letter away and listen to your customers. I've encountered this same garbage when reporting bugs and since these reports are apparently ignored I'm no longer wasting my time giving them feedback untill this changes.

Second I do not intend to pay good money to be a beta tester. The method LL is using to test new versions is obviously broken. There are plenty of people who would love to beta test new versions and new features, a much more organized approach to this needs to be implemented to avoid the horendous instabilities and painfull repeated updates to fix updates. Other games handle this much better, other service providers hand this much better, it's time LL stopped writting it's own rule book and took a page from the real business world.

Third LL needs to work on how it keeps the community at large informed. A perfect example to this is the form letter approach this log in issue was handled with. I have three posting from different lindens which are virtually identical, anyone can copy/paste and it's not very comforting. Everyone is busy, that's simply not an excuse. Let take for example the information card sent out with the 1.6.5 update. No where is the list of bug fixes does it say
-fixes issue with log in server
-fixes issue with teleporter
I might also add that when I attempted to log in today, I got the DL new version message, smiled, DL'ed the new version and attempted to log in I got the message that said the game was offline for maintainance. This turn my smile into a giant laugh and a head shake. While logically it makes sence to put the update out for DL before the game is up so people can install it and log in right away once the "grid" is back up, frankly it looks very unproffesional. Don't release the product untill it works.

Friday= not much done, couldn't get in several times

Sat.=Spent 3 hrs trying the 3 times I had to log off

Sun= 1/2 day couldn't log in

Couldn't get to my folders in my inventory...

Monday= 1/2 day update, can't do nothing in SL

Where is my money going? The money I pay each month?

I am sure many people were worst and couldn't get in at all, plus they pay for islands and sims, that is a lot of money to play for a game...

Do we need a refund? Let's protect... I am sure NOT HAPPY at all!!! :o

C'mmon lindens give us a refund, people will tier down and even leave if you don't give some kind of refund to fun... is not our fault.... Make our money worth..

Friday: 200 US$ tier paid, almost no sales
Saturday: 200 US$ tier paid, lowered land prices, almost no sales
Sunday: 200 US$ tier paid, almost no sales
Monday: 200 US$ tier paid, almost no sales
Monday: forced to tier up again, because land has been piling up for days with people not been able log in and buy

Considering my tiny margins, 4 days of paying tier without doing business is quite significant :-(

i agree with ya too John... but i think LL sees SL as an experiment. its an ongoing program that will always be updated - that is true but i think they have the attitude that 'oh this doesnt work, but sure itll b fixed next time'.

the fact that its been announced that they cannot cope with the amount of players they have now just shows how they are not keeping up to date with the game. login issues, boundary crossings etc will never be perfect for as long as SL stays with the kinda coding it has atm.

i have said several times to lindens about providing people who test new versions with an incentive... like a well done and a thankyou present, but its shrugged off and ignored.

despite how much they say they listen to us, they always have the final word. they say they impliment the feature most people want in the next verison of sl... i dont recall the majority of us asking for video to be implimented. it was introduced as part of the plan to expand sl to real world markets for them to join sl, invest in sl resulting in both LL and the outside investor making the $$$.

it is a game, yes, but its a game we pay for and its a game that proclaims to allow us to run a business and make real $$$.

soz lol, just had to get that off my chest :P
