So... should the Linden's go with Andrew Linden's proposed name for upcoming versions of the SL executable, "SecondLife.exe", or do you feel Chip Midnight's suggestion of "thingamajig.exe" (actually a reference to a mythological precursor to newview.exe) is more appropriate?

Write-in answers are okay, too, I suppose. :D

I think it should be called Fred.

I never named names, ***Blaze Spinnaker***, Linden Labs are the one naming the thing. ;)

I like "newerview.exe", personally, with "newnewerview.exe" as the follow on, of course.

Why was it newview.exe in the first place? When I first joined, I inadvertently blocked that from accessing the internet through my firewall because I didn't recognise the name. SecondLife.exe, or SL.exe would be far clearer ...

Andrew Linden explained it in another thread.

From: Andrew Linden
Once upon a time there was a "viewer.exe" that lived in a directory called "viewer". Unfortunately viewer.exe had some design flaws and its creators decided to kill it and do a massive rewrite. To reduce chance for confusion during the period of time where both creations would exist side by side they created a directory called "newview" and named the better project "newview.exe"

secondlife.exe would be boring but accurate. However I'm sure we can do better.

metaverse.exe would get some excited

notagame.exe would be accurate

thingey.exe would also be accurate.
