Do you have a ton of calling cards? Do you exchange cards with brief acquaintances? Do you limit your calling cards to really good friends? How do you handle declining to trade cards if you do?
I have maybe 10 calling cards, just mostly really good friends. I dislike trading cards with people I really don't know, and I feel terrible when I decline trading cards with people. Just wondering how you guys handle your calling cards.

I dislike CC's too. I dont trade much of them anymore and I always delete CC's if I don't talk to the person much. No sense in having them.

I rarely decline a card, but I frequently go through and delete the cards of people I never talk to, or those I never need to find in world. I don't take it personally when people delete my card, though I know some people do take offense to having their cards deleted. They're probably too sensative for me to worry about anyway, so I don't.

I'm still a relative 'newb'. When I first got on SL I took and traded w/ anyone I briefly spoke to. Just this week I cleaned out my CC's and narrowed it down to only those I see often or speak to on a regular basis. Declining to trade is a tough one, I can imagine someone may get hurt feelings....in that situation I think I'd just trade w/ them and delete later if we didn't speak much. Just my 2 cents.

sigh..... I just let my useless cards pile up. And then I hope and pray they they delete it cuz I don't want to seem rude. Cuz I don't want to seem rude, did you hear that?
Yes, I know it's stupid. I should go delete some now.... it'll be cathartic. But I can't, I just can't.

I'm stingy with my card.
I won't take cards given to me at random, and I won't give my card to you unless I have a reason to contact you again in the future, and I trust you not to do something evil with it.

I manage my cards like I do the rest of my inventory. This mean i accept any card from anybody, I never clean them out or organize them, and yes, I am spammed with sign on/off notificaitons.

I accept all calling cards, then if someone spams me I throw away their card. Also I throw away any cards that I have not talked to the person in so long I can't remember who they are.

Just go Edit= preferances= general tab= click on the box that says print online notifcations. That will keep them from popping on your screen so and so is on or off line, However, you can't pick and choose who you care about seeing if they are online.

I used to do that too, but I got sick of ppl IMing later whining about their cc getting canceled. So now, I have removed the option of online/offline notifactions, and manage the the cc's i get and clean them out as ppl delete mine. At last count i've accumulated 140+ Cards. Only about 30 I really ever use. edit= However I have no problem deleting cards of those who spam me.

Every 6 months I delete them.
All of them.
People who know me well enough never take offense - those that do, well they don't know me well enough so they don't need my calling card!
Siggy.

I folderize them - I find I can keep a lot more contacts and be able to reach whomever I need quickly - I'll use dashes "-" to denote depth of subfolder. I also keep multiple copies of a card when more than one apply (someone could be my neighbor, friend, and a clothing designer)
Calling cards - Friends -- Aquaintances (people I talk to but aren't really friends) -- Circle of Friends (for friends of friends, so I know if they IM me that they're ok) -- Neighbors - Designers -- AV --- Clothing --- avatars --- weapons -- Scripters -- Builders --- buildings --- vehicles -- Events --- DJs --- Club Owners --- Mall Owners --- Event hosts - Linden - Other*
* The "other" folder is where I put cards of people who randomly trade them, and usually gets dumped whenever I feel it gets too full.

I'm still pretty new, but I figured I would eventually have a mess. My rule for now is I keep the ones of people that were very nice or to those I plan on talking with more than once. The rest I will keep for awhile but will eventually delete them.
Does having a lot of CCs affecting status or anything in the game?

I usually only exchange calling cards with business associates (building clients mostly). My friends know where I'll be most of the time, and I usually don't need to track them around LF

How I handle my "calling cards" is a personal matter that I do not want to discuss publicly, perverts. Less seriously: Do you have a ton of calling cards? Yes Do you exchange cards with brief acquaintances? If they initiate it. Do you limit your calling cards to really good friends? No. How do you handle declining to trade cards if you do? Guess this one doesn't apply to me. I rarely initiate the calling card trade unless someone makes a huge impression on me (which is rare, so don't be offended). If someone asks me though, I don't turn it down. Why not? I dunno, I don't really mind having alot, the only thing that annoys me is all the offline/online notifications, which I had off for awhile, but got tired of not being informed when close friends signed in (LINDENS PLEASE GIVE US INDIVIDUAL OFF/ONLINE SETTINGS). I figure the following (my personal thoughts), 1) I wan't to be easily contactable if the person wants me to be, I rarely hide from people even though I'm slightly anti-social. 2) The other person will probably A) Never really talk/see me again, or B) Cancel the card soon after. Plus I'm still used to the 1.0 trend of collecting every card you can to get a higher bonus (even though that was ditched), guess its a legacy thing in my mind, heh. I have two specific catagories "Close Friends" and "Lindens", then everyone elses card is sorted alphabeticly by... I think last name. Or first, I forget. Do not feel bad about not trading cards, its pretty common behavior and not a rare thing. If anyone gives you a hard time about it, show them this thread, or several of the others that exist where others state that they too don't trade cards. Its not that big of a deal.

ok thanks for the responses. I just feel so guilty when I delete a CC, but I realy like keeping my CCs & inventory organized and trim (can you say ocd?) I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one that periodically goes through and cleans out the unused CCs.

I always accept calling cards from everyone. There have only been a couple that I have deleted. Here is one example of how they can be handy. I have a calling card from an old friend that I traded with over a year ago. He disappeared and was AWOL for about 10 months or so. Recently, I was looking at my online contacts and there he is, online! I went and talked to him and we have a project we are working on together now. If I had deleted his card, I would not have thought of looking him up, the "out of sight, out of mind" syndrome.
Its good to have a network of people, even if you dont see each other everyday. Also, when you trade cards with someone, look at the profile and make a comment in the "my notes" section to remind you why you traded cards. That section is for your use and no one else sees it. It does not have to be a novel about the person, just a little reminder. When I traded cards with Taru, I made the comment on her profile, "Has an art gallery in Bolinas". Its not a long comment, but it reminds me who she is.

I always accept offers to trade cards, I never delete them unless the person is someone I don't want to be able to find me, and they are not organized in anyway other than one folder called "Close Friends". I don't know who half the people are when I look through my callings cards, and it doesn't matter. I'm fine with having a ton.

I always accept calling cards, I dont want to be rude either. I dont organize them. There are many many that I seldom talk to, but I still like looking at their names when im browsing through my inventory. Im nostalgic with calling cards and objects.
But what is even more amazing, I have many that I talk to on a weekly basis and I dont have their calling card. Its weird that I have so many friends, but we have never traded cards. We know if we want to talk to each other we can use the find.
