To those of you who keep complaining about land and barons and all that crap, do keep in mind that it's quite possible to purchase land from another player without getting ripped off.
I bought 4096 m2 of land from Lisse Livingston, it was a beautiful plot, square, no "For Sale" sign, not flattened, and still with all the Linden trees untouched.
It came with a free house, and cost me less than what it would have cost me to claim public land back in the pre-1.2 days.
I'm very happy with my purchase and would heartily recommend Lisse Livingston to anyone wanting to buy land. Three thumbs up! :)

I'm really happy with the land I bought from Lisse too... she went out of her way to reshape it to suit what I needed. It's a nice piece of land, I didn't overpay, and she's very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

Oh ya, Lisse is great. Great price on getting my land sold for me and real nice.

BTW Lisse, it sold late last night. So thanks. Now I need to start looking for a 1024 plot, but I may have to wait untill my paypal account is verified.

Oh. My. God.

My very own fan thread! And it wasn't even started to counter any bashing against me!

Eggy, I think you just made me cry with joy....

Wiggles, don't forget you'll be getting your stipend of $500 tomorrow morning, plus your rating bonus (and with the way you've been out and about in world this week, you could be looking at another $500-$750 on the bonus!)

Add that to the cash from your land, and you won't be too far off the price of a nice little 1024 plot.

Oh sweet...

I really dont have a clue as to how much land'll cost, but I figured I might need some more cash for texture and souns uploads. I wasnt planning on getting much, just a little extra.

If you're going to be on later today I'll be contacting you to help me look if that's ok.

I have never bought land from Lisse, but I have enjoyed several of her creations (including Happy Cows :) ) and am thankful to have met her in SL. I have felt good vibes from her and she has treated me with kindness, grace, and with some real insights into the world.

I like how her Livingston Properties is set up like a real real estate company:

Check it out :D

Oh, I'm already on the slippery slope! Yes, I admit it - I won an auction lot for $US last week, and it's already set for sale! I didn't even terraform it first! I even put an ugly castle on the land with a drawbridge and trees to annoy the neighbors! And it's on offer for a price which will get me a few more L$s than if I'd just bought them on GOM!

OH! And while helping someone scout out First Land lots last week, I stumbled across two little 16m2 squares of Public Land, and I bought them! I felt so dirty! I set them for sale too! For more than L$16 (but still far less than the surrounding 16m2 squares which someone else had found earlier)!

My soul needs salvation! Help me!!!!!!! I can't stay away from the ! key!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's just say that we have movers IRL coming in 24 hours, and I still have a house full of piles of papers and books and lots of empty cardboard boxes....

...so that's a "not till late at night", I think!

Wiggle, if you're looking for a 1024 plot, there's a bunch in Stanford right now for sale. This is good!

However, they're flat as a pancake. This is bad!

But it's an old sim, so terraformable up to 20m either way! This is good!

However, they cost 8000L$, which even for a mature sim, seems like a lot to me. This is bad!

But you get to be my neighbor! This is good!

--Carolyn
(The Auntie who *isn't* the one selling the 1024 plots... and doesn't even know the person... just keeps mentioning them to anyone who'll listen, because too much of Stanford is empty right now, and she wants more neighbors!)

hehe thanks for the heads up Carolyn. I think Lisse has found something for me, I just have to wait for paypal to confirm the funds I deposited and then buy some L.

If that doesnt work out I'll be in the market again soon enough and I'll have her check into that for me :P

I like having someone do the legwork for me. ;)

Oh, so Lisse really is more of a realtor than a land speculator, huh?

Lisse, you actually go around land-hunting for what people want? That's totally cool! I hope more people get into that profession. I think it'll help people with their pricing issues and such. I know if I could've had someone look for me, given a certain price range and set of features, things would've been much easier!

Keep up the good work! :)

I (number) this nomination. Lisse, while I've not baught any land off yah, your opinions, ideas, and general actions I've seen and heard about have been of sound and sane mind, and alot of which I agree with.

Keep up the good work! :D

Awwwwww, look at her turn red! ;)

Izzint dat schweeeeeeeet? ^_^

As a Shona landowner's husband per se, I heartily support this thread and its conclusions about Lisse. ^_^

You know, I have been pondering.

I want to buy a 1024 sq.m plot... but I want it to be in the dimensions 4m x 256m.

I will build a giant park on this plot.... sideways. It'll work, I tell ya!

All I need is to tilt all the avatars 90 degrees to the side so their feet will be on the park grounds.

Lisse is a Real Estate Agent. One of the Realest. I think she and Schwan qualify for King and Queen of Land Brokers.

Neither of them leave a baron wasteland in their path.

damn I'm punny :p

Well, those are my buyer's agent services, yes! I do purchase and sell land myself, but that's an increasingly small part of my business. For sellers, I do valuations and provide a notecard with photo/description/instructions for setting for sale. I then advertise their property in-world and outside of SL for a commission of 5%. For buyers, I do an initial interview and then either give them a notecard with some selected landmarks from the Find list, or in the case of First Land purchases, take them on a tour of currently open blocks of First Land. I don't charge for buyers' services but I invariably get a tip!

It's very rare for me to directly offer a buyer land that I own myself unless it really fits their needs. I really do consider myself a realtor, and the Find/Land Sales tab is the Multi-Listing Service!

By the way, this thread is already having repercussions. I helped someone into her First Land this evening, and hung around while her friends came by to visit.

My client told her friend "Yes, I met Lisse last night, but I'd read about her before then."

Oh, and then of course her friend wanted land too ;)
