Lindens,
For those who paid in advanced (i.e. the quarterly and yearly subscribers) what happens with our membership we paid in advanced? I can see several posibilities:
1) We gain basic membership ($9.95) + a 512m land grant ($5) until our subscription is over.
2) We gain a credit of our unused subscription fees to do as we wish with as far as buying under the new plan.
3) We write it off as a learning experience of not pre-paying.
I kind of doubt 3 is true, but I have yet to hear what plans there are for us folks.

Err....
maybe a fourth option too?
4) Pro-rated partial refund?
Methinks they haven't worked out an option yet----
It's VERY difficult for a company to give money, mainly because its SO HARD to find customers in the first place---
They are definetly trying to figure out a way to adequately compensate you for what you have paid them so far.

I'm also interested in an answer to this question since I *just* bought a year membership a couple weeks ago.

You'll get a premium account through your pre-paid time, plus some extra time to account for the price difference. The basic rule will be:
Quarterly accounts which renew on or after Feb. 1 will get an extra month.
Annual accounts which renew on or afer Feb. 1 will get an extra month for every two months of pre-paid time after Feb 1. (Rounded up). So if your annual account would renew on April 15, we'll push the renewal date back to June 15.
When your account does renew, you'll get the new, lower price for the term you've selected.

Thank you Ian.
Does any kind of discount or prorating apply to newly-minted Lifetimers?

Conversion of account to Lifer: How will that work?

Ian, I'm seriously considering buying a lifetime membership, but I just bought a quarterly account a few weeks ago. Since the lifetime membership option is going away in a few weeks, I am curious if LL will give a partial credit for money I've already paid. Please let me know.....

See the other thread: /120/3c/7504/1.html Robin Linden says that, regardless of remaining paid time, pending lifetime members will be treated like existing lifetime members once 1.2 drops on the 22nd. So this means that existing users are basically out the money they paid for their terms.

This differs from the email I recieved from Colin, which read: From: someone Originally Emailed by Colin Linden Hello Alondria:
Thanks for your inquiry. We will be extending your membership with the premium access plan until it's next billing date.
Regards,
Colin Linden
Which is correct?
