Ok, Ok, Ok, I can't take it anymore!!!!!!!!!
Would SL some day change the teleporting way to a better one???? I mean give me a break!!! I am really tired of:
1) Waiting to rezz at hubs Not only I have to wait for my rezzing time (Yeah, yeah, waiting for my hair to appear, shoes, I mean, the necessary) but I also have to wait because someone else landed on my head coughing awful particles of poofs on me and waiting for there laggy scripts too. Take all my attachments off before taking off to a location everytime.... *YAWNS*... Sorry, but that sounds like a waste of time for me
2) Getting caught on buildings C'mmon, I try to take my time in flying descently high to fly and I still get caught on high buildings and castle dungeons or whatever. Where the hell is the exit!!!!!!!!!! Or not only that but once I get caught I have to wait for the building to rezz too because I can't see where the door is. All I know is that I bump into invisible walls. And just being careful not to get caught inside a dungeon where there is "some activity" going on......... "Ohhh, so sorry, I was just delivering your mail, don't mind me, I will place your mail on the counter and leave quick"
3) Turn my avie to continue following my red cylinder. Well, once I get caught I have to find again where the heck I am and look around for my red cylinder losing the perfect camera angle I had already.
4) I want or more "home base locations" I have 3 different "home places" and I can choose only one for home location. What if I go to the 3 locations all the time??
5) It is sooooo simple and much better to teleport to a location right there. Would make the game a better way to be
Any comments? or is it just me that gets annoyed by this???

You dont have to wait for anything to rez, you can start flying right away. As for getting caught in building, press page up and fly up in the air above them.

Nope.... You already caught and page up at that time is unused.... find the exit and then page up... annoying!!!
Rezzing at hubs what usually people do.... I don't wait that long, too annoying....

I'll comment on your first two issues. Waiting for your attachments to catch up and flying into buildings are the end result of those who build dense, laggy malls and other structures around Telehubs. Its not exactly a Linden problem, and unless the Lindens start protecting land around Telehubs, its a problem that will not go away.
As for your other issues, I can agree with those. I miss the teleport anywhere days before Telehubs. I don't miss being charged to teleport, but the convenience makes up for it.

I'll definitely agree with your comment about wanting more home locations. I live in two different locations and it truly irrritates me to have to teleport to a telehub and then fly all the way to my house, bumping into buildings along the way, having to manuever my way around no fly zones, etc. And yeah, it would be helpful if we could just port directly to a location without having to fly everywhere. Hey, I wouldn't even mind if we had to pay to teleport directly into a location...at least it would cut down time and aggrevation!

there are two reasons we have telehubs:
first, they foster the division of commercial and residential areas on the mainland. this greatly increases the sales of vendors located between hubs and housing areas and thus facilitates vast growth in the economy. theyre like giant impulse buy racks at walmart. it also facilitates the creation of residential areas because people don't build laggy clubs and malls away from hubs where others are trying to build homes and host useful events.
second, they force us to fly over land we might not ever see if we could teleport directly to landmarks or any location on the map. we are apparently too stupid to explore on our own or make friends and build communities without this guiding hand.
these tenets are sacrosanct to the linden family. there will never be any official policy regarding them other than that they are wonderful ideas and working like a charm. feel free to argue the points if you have the time to waste. i'm just playing the game.

Yes I agree a few more home location would be cool i love tping, home lol so easy. Everywhere else lol all the problems you stated generaly occure. You missed one though, that seems my biggest pet peeves TPing somewhere and flying there only to relize there is a gap in the sim you have to fly around, (sometimes 2!) puts an extra 300M on your flying after you tped there!!! Ok thats my rant.

I think they did a really good job with the TP system... They can't do any better, as some of us can see the map is grawing VERY fast. I always it page put right when I land and then I start flying andi have no problem..
The Only problem I have is the problem everyone is having with the laggy TP but that will be fixed soon

I agree with Teeny. I think the telehubs are a waste. Bring back teleport to anywhere, and charge us for it. Much better.

I heard that old versions of SL, like 1.1 or something, allowed you to TP directly to your desired location, but it cost like $10 linden. If you chose the teleporter then it didnt cost.

You heard wrong, and obviously didn't read all the posts, cause this was already brought up.
The price for the teleports were dependant on how far you ported.
It wasn't an either or thing. The telehubs replaced the paid teleporting. They didn't exist simultaneously.

I don't mind not having a telehub in the sim where I have my home spot. But it's not so hot that the "nearest" telehub is on the other side of a void, so people have to fly around in 3 sims to get to where I am. (And despite that, I have skyscrapers and office buildings in my back yard. Go figure.) There is a road, but that's on public land. I presume I can't build a bus to run this road without a driver in it, and anyway, I've heard such bad things about vehicles crossing sim boundaries that I don't think it would be advisable.
I can just pop there whenever I want to, of course, but people coming to visit me generally don't bother unless I'm at home and can teleport them there. Going to be a bit of a problem for the Chinese New Year parties next week.
I understand the motivation behind the scheme the Lindens have set up, and even agree with it to some extent. But the problem cited by the original poster -- getting stuck in buildings while trying to fly to your landmark -- is really irritating. On my Powerbook, I physically *can't* hold down both page up and up arrow at the same time -- they're the same key. I have to use function-up-arrow to page up (fly). Gravity seems non-constant, so I find myself falling into stuff all the time. So far it's just been a petty nuisance, but it makes me want to fly around and explore *less*, which seems counter to the Lindens' plan.

Khamon, you're right that telehubs are cash cows and force fly-overs, etc.
But I quite agree with the original poster that telehubs are built badly, and those who build around them are guilty of being evil avatar-catchers
So many of the Linden telehubs force you to bang your head on the ceiling, and then wait to rez until you can fight your way out of the area. They have these funny wings on them as if they thought people would alight on them going OUT of a sim. But since telehubs are only for ENTRY to a sim, it makes no sense. They need to get rid of those stupid wings and roofs over telehubs! That's one of the reasons why you have people materializing on your head. And really, it's stupid to have flying creatures cooped up in a building with a roof, or coming into a hub with wings on it. Get rid of all that crap and give us free, open skies.
I hate it when a mall traps me. Sure, I press page up, I arrow up, I struggle to get out of the way. But the mall is like a magnet, I swear. It pulls on my av with some kind of gravity. I just can't get above it fast enough, though I've tried hundreds of times. It's not fair to do that to me. You can be damn sure that I will never, ever shop at that mall precisely because it harms me in this fashion, preventing me from getting to work on group land. I can't set myself to home everywhere, so I am stuck using the telehub. I hate it, and it is even worsened by the tendency of those around it to have bouncer scripts precisely because avs coming out of the telehub get stuck in their homes, and they hate that intrusion.
In fact, when I go shopping, I go shopping, at places I select, not places I get trapped in. I pick them off the FIND list or hear about them from friends or get their landmarks, and I fly even 800 meters if I have to, in order to get to their shop. I like them all the more and shop at their establishments more if they are not nasty av-trappers.

From: Devlin Gallant I agree with Teeny. I think the telehubs are a waste. Bring back teleport to anywhere, and charge us for it. Much better. We could maybe have the choice of a direct tp, using a landmark, or the telehubs for free - or much cheaper, like public transit. Most telehubs are not at all appealing, due to all the things built up around them, so I usually wind up asking someone for a tp, avoiding them altogether.

Most telehubs are not at all appealing, due to all the things built up around them, so I usually wind up asking someone for a tp, avoiding them altogether. I don't see why that would be such a horrid idea. Telehub to telehub travel would be free (where one actually has to visit a hub to get to another hub) and then instant tp travel paid by meter for those occasions when you just don't have time to fly and really don't care about the money. The more "mature" player will use instant tp more often than a newer player anyhow with the newbie finincial constraints so those who may "need" to explore a bit will do so to conserve cash. The more options the better. There is really no need for so many restrictions other than forcing community. Though I understand the DB issues with expanding group limits, are there similar issues concerning the home location limit? If not, then I would think it beneficial (as the world continues with explosive growth and residents are buying parcels in multiple sims for varying reasons) to allow secondary and even tertiary home or base locations if the telehubs are to continue as the sole form of long distance travel. Just my opinion, though far from priceless.

The telehubs were a way the Lindens tried to 'force' community on us. They don't understand that with so many minors running loose in SL, adults don't WANT to be in a community that includes them. We are here to enjoy ourselves. Not babysit bedwetting rugmonkeys.
