1) Will prims be allocated depending on how much linden-owned land there is in a sim? ie if 50% of a sim is owned by the lindens, users get 50% more prims per square meter?
If not, why? You guys only said that about 10 times in the last week, now haney is backpeddaling. explain, and explain quickly please.
2) Will land and prim costs be reimbursed to people prior to 1.2? If not, should we get rid of all of our land/prim holdings before 1.2 rolls over so we don't lose money?

Just found this post from Haney in the Economy forum: From: someone Haney Linden Linden Lab Employee Registered: Oct 2002 Location: Posts: 544 12-18-2003 12:25 AM
That's right about the new shopping center in Luna which will have a 5x allowance of prims per sq meter since we are only leasing out a small part of the sim.
However, on Boardman, Brown, De Haro, and Green, we've decided that they will have the basic limit per square meters because these regions were designed as primarily temporarly homes for new residents and if we raised the prims per meter then we'd expect vets to fill them up. This means the little stalls will be pretty useless unless you own one of the larger plots as well.
I may have mislead you in an earlier post. In general we will leave the prims per square meter the same no matter how much Linden-owned land is in a particular sim.
In addtion to special use regions like the Welcome Area and the Vehicle sims, Linden will continue to own land in a variety of regions in order to preserve physical features like ridges and waterways.
The other exceptions will be Dore and Bonifacio - since amount of land the themed communities there can own is limited - and Coney, the home of LindenWorld That thread can be found here: /invalid_link.htmlI too am curious to know why the change from what they had said before, and I'm also very curious to know the answer to your other question Lordfly.

Philip answered question #2 in here: /120/bc/7775/1.htmlTo answer your first question: We need to be careful about upping prim allocations, for several reasons. -If we increase the prim allocations, we can't ever build anything on the Linden land, because it'll dog the framerate. -We can't ever sell the land, for the same reason. -We don't ever want to give people more prims and then take them away, because that would really suck. So a decision to increase prim allocations is effectively permanent. Haney explained some cases in which we felt safe making that sort of permanent decision. If we come up with other cases, we'll do so: we always like giving people more tools to work with.

We took a really hard look at offering users in some sims higher prims per meter in proportion to amount of Linden-owned land but we realized there were two major problems. One is the potential confusion this would cause land buyers when faced with a variety of prim per meter levels. Another big problem - that John highlighted - is that we don’t fully know the results that the new 15,000-object limit will have on frame rate. After we get more data, we will take another look at the possibility of raising the prim limits. In the mean time we will be releasing considerable Linden land.

This is a themed community, and around 1/8th or so of the sim is owned by Linden. Does Gray not count as a themed community anymore, and if so why not? Also, regarding the Vehicle Sims. Will those be treated like the sandbox, where you can rez things out without having to worry about not owning land there and having your objects removed? I'm not talking about simply rezzing a vehicle, and having it in your 'personal' area rez allotment, but rather rezzing out say some racing gates, which can be used for racing events. Some of us would rather have the ability to create our own racing events, instead of relying on what is currently in place =). Xylor

Bonifacio and Dore are different because the themes never had an opportunity to buy more than the 1/12th land originally offered. These sims are also shared.
On the other hand Gibson, which is also part of our themed community, is not part of the exception in this case. Gibson is in the same situation as Gray.

I am a little worried about Gray as well - particularly the suggestion that you'll be getting rid of Linden lands. We're already suffering a lot of nibbling around the edges and may end up with more because of the changes. Can we get some warning before that land goes away?

Yes, we'll check with you before releasing. No plan to do that now.
