A museum in SL would be nice. The museum will showcase one of the many famous things created in second life and will be a great place to learn about SL. There willl be photos of great achivements in SL such as the Gravity Space Station.

Yeah, more monuments would be nice.
Things change so fast in SL and we lose a *lot* of very nice builds. Sometimes it feels like we're all painting in sand. _____________________

It's amazing how things come and go so quickly nowadays. I doubt there are very few places that have had structures stand for more than a year.

How is it that the Gravity Space station is the best thing created in SL? It's a generic club.

Eugene, you're my alt!
![]() We have a museum of modern art in the city of Neualtenburg. I've also seen several other galleries out and about in SL too. Just search for them using "Find". ![]() ~Ulrika~ _____________________

Eugene. Before you post anymore 'new' ideas, please do a forum search on the topic. You keep coming up with subjects that have been forumed to death in the past.
And I will NEVER forgive you for ressurecting the government in SL topic. I STILL have nightmares from THOSE threads. *Shudders* _____________________

Isn't there already a museum? I realize this isn't a direct question. To cite another example though, Tayzia Abattoir also owns a museum in Crescent Moon, and is fairly vocal on these forums. Even hosted an event for me yesterday. Example thread. Quite a nice place, really. However, it's an art museum - if you're looking for something oriented toward, say, history of SL - not too sure. ![]() Though there is a wiki for that: http://www.profnano.org/sl _____________________

I never really went to Gravity Space Station in its heyday, but it was far from a generic club. It was a pretty exceptional build. There are lots of places that come and go, so get out there and explore and take lots of pictures.

How is it that the Gravity Space station is the best thing created in SL? It's a generic club. Because it was pretty, and people always like pretty things. The fact that it encouraged people to use Local Lighting, and then used dozens, if not HUNDREDS of Light objects in the build, dragging people's FPS down to 2 or less is lost on folks. It was pretty, but woefully inefficient. It was also a club. Boring. We already have dozens of those. _____________________

Awesome.... Just the place to manage a huge portait of me on the wall somewhere... That would be cool. I know the dart-throwers would line up as soon as it was in place. ![]() _____________________

Isn't there a museum of SL history in Plum or Lime?
And there's a gallery (or was) in Crescent... And mine about ready to open in Mocha... Not saying there isn't room for more of course, I think it's a great idea... _____________________

Gravity Station was what you can refer to as "active art".
The art was the design and construction. And while at it, they made it function as a club and not just look like one, which was pretty cute I think. But overall - SL is changing blindingly fast. I can only point at very few structures that stayed the way they are for a long duration. And the obvious reason is the fact that land costs... monthly. And the creator prefers to keep making new creations rather then sponsor the same creation for eternity. Its the benefit and fault of SL at the same time. |

I'd be willing to bet this has been done, but I think it would be cool to have an SL vehicle museum or something like a Smithsonian in SL. I would love to build stuff for it, cars, antiques whatever. So many possiblities in SL....
