The thing is... my original post was something offensive... (of course), and then I realized I wasn't being "supportive", so...
Yay, go Mistress. Way to make n00bs neg rate you!

From: someone Originally posted by Launa Fauna But a lot of newbies dont understand the severity of neg rating someone. I don't know, I might just be jaded, but I don't think neg rating someone is severe at all. I mean, you have the right to negatively rate anyone you want, for any reason. The only real concequences these days are that people who have a tendancy to give out a large number of negative rates tend not to be terribly well respected. I agree with Aimee's suggestion to a point... the problem with a sliding scale of "rate magnitude" dependeding upon the age of your account does little to address the handful of people who have been in SL for a year or more and persist in antagonizing others, or playing the victim in childish negative rate wars. They're the ones who really "abuse" the system. (Again, I consider rating anyone for any reason perfectly acceptable, if a little immature.) Indeed, it actually gives them more ammunition to use against each other. I guess my point is, have you really been so inconvenienced? Why is it such a big deal? (And to those of you who are already frantically mashing "Reply" in an effort to ask "but what if it happened to you!?", let me save you the trouble: I wouldn't care. Rate me however you please; they really don't matter. In fact, on several occasions, I've publically offered for anyone who feels I've wronged them to negatively rate me if they so pleased, with a guarantee of no retaliation. Nobody's ever taken me up on it.)

In my underpants usually.
Siggy.

I'm sorry Cat. That was a bit of a blanket statement. Lemmy rephrase In my opinion. In my second life. I enjoy not having any neg ratings. I like knowing I haven't wronged someone... But I am extremely non confrontational and just dont like people upset with me in general.

[/B] OH Cat. Part of my sliding scale also included a reduction in rate magnitude as a result of the number of neg ratings you hand out. That is, the more you hand out the less each is worth. It's true, senior members could use thier neg ratings to antagonize others far more effectively than a noob. But if those senior members hand out dozens of neg ratings they would eventually be rendered harmless. I also think your rate magnitude should be diminished when YOU have been neg rated alot. I am mostly saying that it would be nice to include the reputation of the rater in the rating in some way. It all could result is a very complex formula but any step in this direction would be better than what we have now. -Aimee

Yeah, but isn't that basically trying to make it so I have to care about rates again? That was such a pain...
If someone wants to rate me, super. If someone wants me to rate them back, well... I'm about as stingy with rates as I am with calling cards. Doesn't your idea kind of require participation in the system for it to work?

no, no, and no.
you charge what YOU feel is appropriate from your experience with different levels of detail and effort. Love your work Mis, it's worth every penny you ask for it.
As for the noob, my suggestion to her would be to get off her 4-day-old butt, make some clothes of her own that have comparable style and quality, and sell them for next to nothing if it bothers her that much. If she bothered to give it a shot, i am sure she would find that the level of effort that goes into a garment is usually directly reflected in the price.

For some reason when people enter second life, and find they have money that has value, all ideas of realism vanish. My personal thought that it is a currency, and therefore you treat and value it as such - taking an example, I run a photography gallery in callisto. I do photography in real life. In real life, I'd charge $40 for a framed photo. in SL, I charge $40l for a framed photo. So if you buy clothes for $200 in the RL, I say charge $200l in SL. Mistress, nothing wrong with you prices - theres just something wrong with the newbies

No No No. Anyone can charge what they like for the itmes then make in game , much like land prices or any other service. If the person doesn't have the money they can look elsewhere, noone is forcing them. Everyone has there own niche.
As for ratings BLEH.. lose them! Horrible system and take the leaderboards with em. Top Scores do not mean the best players. (rants some more to himself)
<-----Oh I got told my prices are too low several times does that count.

Mistress, You and your designs simply rock. Please do not allow a newbie to influence any design or cost decision that you make. I, personally, still wear the black leather pants you gave me back in beta. I've seen and heard from others (newbies included) that you pass out all types of freebies to them on the spur of the moment. Fun! Please do not change your pricing, your generosity, and um, your infamous cat suit.

As a relatively new player to the game, 100-300L is a lot of money if you are a basic member, as you get next to no stipend once you have blown your initial L500. I did come to your store when I first signed up and was looking for some decent clothes, your stuff is BEAUTIFUL! but there is cheaper stuff about for noobs. I can afford to pay your prices now since I upgraded to the Premium membership and I tend to pay more for clothes than I did when I started. But I'd certainly never neg rate or IM anyone saying their prices were too expensive! To the noob who did this, if you don't like it...shop elsewhere!

How to play Second Life: - Go to the welcome area - Take your clothes off - Make a really gross av by pushing all sliders to 100 - Attach the default cabin - Write in ALL CAPS n w/ rilly bad speelin - Ask people whether or not they are a computer. - Move to the nearest sexy girl and ask her if she wants to cyber - Look at the leader boards, and ask the people at the top for some free money - Sell the default items for $1000 each - Shoot the default gun at random people - Shout some racial slurs - Get banned - Post a huge rant in the forums claiming your little brother did it - Set up another account - Start over

I kill the dinosaur lizard guy and save the princess. 1. To me, I would not pay over 100 for any clothes, if the clothes are as much as a vehicle to me its buying a shirt thats as much as a car in RL, but I'm cheap, and don't go shopping much, and thats my opinion not saying you should change your prices or not, thats your opinion. 2. Its a free world, anyone can tell you anything they want. Wether you listen to them or not is your choice. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. 3. To me, no, but anyone is free to use the rating system as they want. I feel if I disagree with someones pricing of an item, I just don't buy it.

Sorry, Oz. Our princess is in another castle.
It's easy to play SL. You just fail to not play it.
