We were assured eBay would not be involved!

CORRECT and I am saying using EBAY to Provide an AD via SL is wrong when we were told Ebay would have zero influence in SL. I got that it was an ad right off the bat. Makes me sick to think of who will be "using" yet another LL made system to their advantage.

Would using a Colocation facility mean the Colo has an undue influence over SL?

Would using someone else's backbone mean an undue influence?

You folks are forgetting that eBay is the ONLY decent place to put up an auction anywhere on the web. Yahoo and whatnot suck.

What do you want them to do? Spend time rewriting their auction code?

No, of course not, because then EVERYONE would complain about not fixing bugs. As usual.

No I want LL to keep their word. I don't think I am asking too much.

It would be helpful to actually go look at what the ebay site has on it now.

From: someone
Current bid:
US $105.00 (Reserve met)

well that looks like a mugs game to me. It really doesnt matter if the money is coming from SL or RL.

This is a distorted portrayal of the auction. Sure, one person, in typical "land baron" fashion, locked in their really high bid at $100 and went away and left it. In fact, while I saw that high bid yesterday, I don't see it now. There are 10 slots here, and most are still at a $1 and might go for only $5 or $10, who knows, we'll have to see. Actually it's interesting that there isn't any kind of stampede to this offer.

Here's where it stood at 12:15 p.m. EST today:

In the summary post (Announcements forum) for the upcoming changes they say that they started it on ebay,, but if it's a success, they wanna bring it to their own auctioning system. So for the trial phase they use ebay, since it's easier than getting someone to change their auction script to implement it.
So, either they system fails, and nothing happens, or it'll be a success, and they bring it from ebay to their own system. In both cases, ebay's out again.

There are two retracted bids. One was for $15000. So now the high bid is ten bucks and change.
