haven't you ever noticed how some really nice people get uber aggressive behind the wheel of a car? It's partly because they feel protected by the car, and partly because the "human" factor is removed. Same dynamic here.
One could argue that 70-80% of our communication is non-words... hence the evolution of emoticons to attempt to make up for the loss. But pure text... it's too easy for people to rush off a response, too easy for readers to read a tone that was not intended (mad vs laughing for example), and too easy for readers to put emphasis on one word when it was intended on another.
My assumption is to take everything with a grain of salt, give everyone the benefit of the doubt, assume they are very nice in-world, and just that they feel passionate about their opinions.
Of course, that said, anyone who disagrees with me is ridiculous.
(now, without emoticons and bold/colored words, how would YOU read that statement ;D)

I'm angry cuz people keeping breaking the monotony of this place by posting something I find disgusting, whiney, or just plain annoying. And I've decided just troll this place.
