When I first saw this thread I was a little surpised to see airing of dirty laundry in a public forum. After seeing how some of the reponses have gone, I've had my patience strained. Here are some notes I had taken because I had been trying to learn to socialize new players who didn't know community standards. {dialogue preceeded by Darkkman entering my friend's house with gun drawn and menacing residents. Darkkman was asked politely to put gun away to which he responded by shooting homeowner}
Malachi Petunia: Did you hear me Darkkman?

{I follow Darrkman 20m into non safe-plot}
Darkkman Tigereye: huh?
Darkkman Tigereye: yeah responde to ehat
{Darkkman kills me}
Malachi Petunia: I was trying to explain to you that there are few rules in here, but those that there are are pretty severely enforced
Malachi Petunia: One of them is you don't shoot people in safe zones
Darkkman Tigereye: ok
Malachi Petunia: So be cool about that please.
Darkkman Tigereye: sorry dude i thought that was unsafe
Malachi Petunia: The house was safe, they yard wasn't you are right
Malachi Petunia: But walking into someone safe house with a gun is uncool.

Actually it's from The Holy Grail... in particular the scene where they encounter a group of villagers accusing an old woman of being a witch... the quote was actually " She turned me into a newt... " and I think, but am not sure, that it was Michael Palin who said it...

Darwin, although I cannot speak of the event in question, I can relate my experience with Kyle Chaos within days of his trial beginning. Suffice to say, he proved himself to be in-world much as he is showing himself to be on the forums. I have edited the attached for brevity's sake, but if anyone feels they have been misrepresented I will happily add the unedited log. Needless to say, I have misgivings about trying to teach again. |

Mal, that's absolutely horrible being shot at while you're teaching a class. The same thing happened to me last week when i was teaching a basic building class; but what I don't understand is that from your log, it seems that Jeff Linden was present at the time.
Is this sort of behaviour condoned by the Lindens? If this character wasn't reported for abuse by the liason who witnessed it, then I shall think very seriously about whether to carry on teaching or not.

In all fairness to Jeff and LL policy generally, it was ambiguous who the second shooter was and I'd rather allow a single-instance griefer to go unpunished than to risk an innocent being banned, And as yet, in SL as well as RL, bad manners is not a crime. |

ok, so i have to add my run-in with darkkman:
i'm standing on my plot in natoma chatting with a neighbor, when darkkman walks out of avatar central, walks right up and smacks both of us with a sword (or some kind of weapon) and sends both of us flying to the far edges of the world. ugh. didn't get a good look at the weapon as it all happened so fast.
i head back to confront, but it turns out darkkman had logged off. hmph.
what really irritates me is that i chatted with him a few days ago. had a nice conversation and i even rated him positively. ugh.
maybe he just thinks its funny?
whatever the case, he's not very popular. 1 neg rating for every 2 positive. ouch.
