I logged in this morning thinking I was gunna hang with my friends for a few hours before RL. I was wrong.
About 5 minutes after I logged in came my 1st sale of the day. Shortly thereafter I recieved a IM from the buyer saying the product they bought was marked as (modify) but it was not. I made my apologies and sent a replacement item that was modifiable. They bought a different one, same thing, I got another IM. At that point I knew it wasnt just me so I had the person TP me to the location.
At this point I realized how bad things were. I average about 50 items per location, all were marked mod/no copy/trans yesterday. Today, there were some no mod/copy/trans, mod/copy/trans, no mod/no copy/no trans ... Needless to say SOMETHING happened between the time I logged last night, and came in this morning.
As I went from one location to the next (11 locations) I realized that there was no pattern to what had happened, an item marked no mod/copy/trans in location A, did not have the same perms in location B. When I reached my last location, which was just set up yesterday, I also realized the textures I used in decoration were all missaligned and not properly fit. Then after fixing all the items, I decided to do a inventory check, theres tons of properties messed up there as well.
No I dont use vendors, I dont use light and, I dont use scripts to sell.
Ive spent the last 3 hours fixing something that I have no clue how it happened. This is just a word of warning, check your stuff, every single piece.

Thanks for the heads up Koose. I sure hope this is isolated. I have 600-800 items out there between my locations.

There was also a recent one that allowed people to tab over to contents and buy the contents of a box for zero lindens one piece at a time just by right clicking on it. A NO EDIT permission would be nice.... And thanks for the notice. I'm busy checking all my stuff AGAIN this week. Be well everyone.

This has been happening to me on a semi-regular basis since I started selling things in SL (back in Sept 2003). Some days stuff of mine that was marked just fine the day before, is suddenly not marked for sale or has permissions changed on it. Sometimes I notice, sometimes I don't until someone tries to buy something and points it out. I figured this has always been a bug in SL but that it just wasn't one they could figure out how to fix yet? Have I really been the only one dealing with this for so long?

I've had some trouble with my crates suddenly not being for sale anymore. Not chronic, but occasionally it happens. I'll investigate my stuff as soon as I get home. Thanks for the notice.

Thanks for the heads up Koose! Makes me glad I have not set my store up since moving and have given up most of my vendor locations. Sometimes it pays to be lazy.

I've also seen stuff of mine go from on sale to not on sale or have the price change back to what it was a few days ago... I just figured it happened to everybody?

I have had items returned from my land, that wasnt set to return, nor does anyone have access to return them :/ I have also notices items that work one day, and not the next. I myself dont typically sell my wares- but I feel for those of you who will be up all night correcting these hopefully brief issues.
thank you for letting us know!

Its late, but I'll write a script tomorrow which will run once a day or once every few days or whatever is chosen... that will email the owner all items in the same prim's contents as the script and the permissions for the next owner. This will be a lot easier than this constant checking. Or maybe I'll tie it into SLB accounts so you don't have to email... it'll store a list of all your in world prims, their sub contents, and permissions settings. Let me think it through on the best way to handle it considering some people have several thousand prims in world selling.
Thanks,
Flip

Had a few customers tell me they paid but didn't get the item. When I checked it out, I saw the items were no longer in the display prims (marked Sell Contents) which makes me think that someone took the item out in edit mode.

An initial script will be done within the hour. Sellers will be able to drop this object in their boxes / vendors, click, and it will read the permissions settings of each item in the box. Next step will be email automation.

From: Willow Zander I bought a few things last night, all of which I never received, so I guess theres a bug doing the rounds... Yes, this exactly happened to me last night as well. I contacted the creator to let her know and she sent me what I already paid for. Were I a vendor and this happened to me I'd probably drop a note in the Hotline or IM a Linden in-world -- it sounds like something's gotten really snarfed and is going to cause a lot of headaches if it isn't fixed. :/

There were some major issues with the asset server last night causing all this crapola. Here's version 0.1 of a script which will do several things: (1) When the object it is in is clicked, it will say (to the owner of the box only) each item in the box as well as its current permissions setting. (2) Optionally, a number of days can be entered as well as an email address. The script will email the email address entered every "X" days with the report of every item in contents with the script and its permissions (including the script itself). Down the road, I'd like to integrate this with SLB so you can easily monitor all your items, and have exception reports mailed to you when any item has changed permissions. But that's for another day, in the meantime, copy and paste the code below, and go to town! -Flip // By FlipperPA Peregrine... no guarantees, written quickly to help sellers. // This script will // FILL IN YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BELOW
string email_address = "you@yourdomain.com";
// FILL IN THE NUMBER OF DAYS INTERVAL BETWEEN EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS BELOW, OR 0 TO DISABLE // 1 = DAILY EMAIL // 7 = WEEKLY EMAIL // 14 = FORTNIGHT EMAIL
integer interval_days = 7;
///////////////////// // YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CHANGE ANYTHING BELOW HERE /////////////////////
perm_items(integer email_yn) { integer content_num = llGetInventoryNumber(INVENTORY_ALL); integer x; integer perm_mask; string item_name; string return_txt; string email_txt; content_num--;
for(x=0; x<=content_num; x++) { item_name=llGetInventoryName(INVENTORY_ALL, x); perm_mask=llGetInventoryPermMask(item_name, MASK_NEXT);
return_txt+=item_name + " ( "; if(perm_mask & PERM_MODIFY) return_txt+="Mod "; if(perm_mask & PERM_COPY) return_txt+="Copy "; if(perm_mask & PERM_TRANSFER) return_txt+="Transfer "; return_txt+=")\n";
if(email_yn) { if(llStringLength(return_txt)>3000) { llEmail(email_address,"SL Permissions Report", return_txt); return_txt=""; } } else { llOwnerSay(return_txt); return_txt=""; } }
if(email_yn) { llEmail(email_address,"SL Permissions Report", return_txt); } }
default { state_entry() { if(interval_days) { llSetTimerEvent(86400 * interval_days); } } timer() { perm_items(1); }
touch_start(integer total_number) { if(llDetectedKey(0) == llGetOwner()) { perm_items(0); } } on_rez(integer total_number) { llResetScript(); } }

PS -
Thanks to Huns for the assist on figuring out the bizarre llGetInventoryPermMask function and this is released free, open-source. Do whatever the heck your want with it, if you improve it, share with the community, blah blah, wuff wuff.
