What will you be celebrating this midwinter?

There have been lots of threads so far on the bad things of the midwinter festival, and why we should do this or not do that... Well, that's not what this thread's all about...

Some will be celebrating Christmas, some Hanukah, some the Solstice, some other festivals that occur at this time. Whatever you're celebrating, it's a time for joy, peace and happiness, so let's call a religious truce (at least in the forums) and wish each other the joy of the season, however you name it.

I'm a christian, so I'll be celebrating Christmas - not celebrating, not proselytising.

What are you? What will you be celebrating - if anything?

I plan to hold an event some time around midwinter's day for interested people to gather and discuss what they are celebrating... but for now we have this, and please, if you disagree with someone's views or religion, take it to another thread...

I am not celebrating anything. Its a commercial holiday IMO at this point in the US. Hardly a mention of the meaning of Xmas - as if someone might be offended. Sheesh - so I don't really care about it. Luckily I don't have a close family and won't need to go gift shopping etc. I may sing come songs with friends - because carols are so cheery. I would also like to go for a sleighride through the Vermont countryside... which is definitely a possibility. S0, maybe after all I will be celebrating winter.

Heheh good enough, like I said, this thread is just to say what if anything you want... and I see no reason people should be offended by that unless they think that anyone who celebrates $whatever must be evil and needs to be flamed.

It's all about diversity, and learning about what other people get from the season... even if it is just a chance to combine shopping with all out warfare. :)

I am celebrating that my wife is going to visit her family in Poland for the Holidays.

That means no Christmas or New Year parties to attend this year!

Peace, Quiet, Tranquility and Solitude for the Holidays. Perfect!

I'm celebrating getting together with all my family and showing how much we love each other by buying things for each other. Since, you know, love is all about buying things.

We'd be fine just hanging out and watching movies or playing games with each other, just for those few days. It's nice though... without much income it'd be hard for me to get more RAM unless it was a gift :D

Nice thoughtful gifts like that make my legs all jelly-like ^^

We all have a wish list on Amazon, so we go there for the bits and pieces, but then for each person we get something that we think of on our own... and that one is usually nicer and better to recieve than any of the others.

... though another HD is good too ;)

Will be celebrating Yule. Even though my in-laws think we are doing "christmas" with them. Since most of the decorations and such are the same, it is really easy to just mix the two without them being the wiser. :p

Good question...
I'm sort of celibrating to the extent that I'm buying gifts for loved ones, and attending a family get-together in Las Vegas. I didn't put a tree or decorations up this year. I used to like this season, now I find it gloomy.
On the other hand, I, ever the sucker, got a nice present for some annonymous kid in a toys-for-tots type of charity, and I spent several hours yesterday on a giftwrap team, so I guess I'm not a total Scrooge.

I answered Nothing, but in truth we might be celebrating Festivus! (The festivus feast my brother puts on in lue of Christmas, which takes place the whenever-we-can-all-be-in-the-same-city of every year.) It's basically an excuse for us to make my bro cook (he's a chef) and to get shit-faced and sleep on his floor.

Mmm, Grand Marnier Cheesecake...
