I know everyone is thrilled with 1.6 and streaming video etc, but does anyone else agree with my little niggles? 1. Why do all the corners need to be rounded? Is it so we don't hurt ourselves on sharp edges? I would really like to talk to the psychoanalist of the person who came up with this one 2. When you tp now, you can still follow the red bar, but LL have removed the info regarding metres to location. Can this be put back please? 3. Looking on the website at friends on line, it still shows all of my friends on the list, even though only a couple are actually in world. Can this be fixed please? 4. When i log on for the first time and open inventory, why is the gestures folder always open. Never use it and its annoying to have to close it every time. I am sure there are more but can't recall just now. Anyone else agree? Alexa

Yes I have a niggle with 1.6, I can't stay in-world more than a minute or so without the client locking up totally. It's only a niggle, mind....

For me, it's actually more like 10 seconds. Or less. It's random, though. If I just keep bashing my head against that cement wall, I will /eventually/ get a 'stable' login. Of course, then I have to fight crippling lag and the inevitable crash-to-desktop that most people I've talked to seem to be getting with 1.6.

-all the new kinds of unpleasant lag which are causing trouble for numerous Residents it seems -- please keep sending in those bug reports so Lindens can get to the bottom of this! -TELEPORT and MAP buttons in a Profile Picks do nothing if they are accessed from the FIND ---> PEOPLE window. And the option to snag a landmark from someone else's Profile to add it to my list of travels is gone too. -pressing stop with streaming media often seems to make the sound stutter erratically, and then I'll crash. I'll be filing more crash reports about this on an as-it-happens basis. -weird rendering glitches that make my bunnyface and other prim attachments disappear until I zoom in again and focus the camera for a few secs. I don't recall this happening in Preview. -nice Attachment display when Teleporting, but unfortunately teleports seem to not go through to begin with on a frequent basis now -- more pleasant than having it break at the end, but maybe it's a subtle reminder for me to take off more Attachments. -despite the pleasant soft glow when doing a mouseopen on buttons and other interface elements, new IM tabs still blink on and off crudely instead of a more warm pulsating effect. -Debug menu shortcuts are remapped and require additional buttons to be mashed down -- I find it to be inconvenient -new splash screen is expansive but "cold" looking and lacks the sunshiney warmth of the previous one.

Of course, then I have to fight crippling lag and the inevitable crash-to-desktop that most people I've talked to seem to be getting with 1.6. I've not managed to get a single stable login yet, and that's with about 10 attempts. I've even checked my drivers (there's an nvidia one from 11th March that I've installed for my graphics card, but it's made no difference). There doesn't seem to be one "thing" that I do that causes it either, one time I'll be opening the IM window, another I'll be just standing there doing nothing, another I'll be looking at the about land box. I'm sick of sending the crash reports now Funnily though, the times I used the preview this never happened. I had a problem with freezing for 10-20 seconds when a video stream started but don't remember crashing once in preview when I used it.

Agreed. It's annoying, especially if you have a prim-heavy avatar like a fur and then one sphere appears and then the rest doesn't come until much later. *sighs too*

Can we just fix the constant in-for-a-minute-and-then-crash-out, and worry about the splash screen later?

The reason I say this is that I logged in and teleported away from my home (Numbakulla) straight away and didn't crash at all, even whilst flying around for 5 minutes or so. I then teleported back to Numbakulla and locking up again within 30 seconds or so, so I'm thinking it's content or sim specific. I'd like to know where you were so I could teleport there and see if I crash.

However, with me, I /was/ able to return later. But the first time I managed to log in and teleport away, I was fine (Until I later crashed to desktop...)

Yes, I entirely agree with everyone! 1.6 is a dreadful abomination! A plague upon the people of Earth! It is a dreadful, rotten thing and we must repent now for our sins lest our lives be filled ever with its cruelty. 1.6 is rockin' over here. Handles plump when you mouseoever, like delicious UI ballpark franks. Snapping is more useful than ever. Sim border crossings are smooth as silk. Framerate is much improved under all circumstances. For me, fleeting login issues aside, this has been a delightful release and I'm happy as a pig in a blanket to have it at my disposal. Wouldn't mind having the landmark beacon distance back, surely. Otherwise, rockin'.

Screen freezes are far too frequent. I can barely do anything without it freezing which is a total pain.

Inventory search....if you search for a folder, it pops up instantly, but you cannot open it from the search list. You have to clear search and then manually scroll for the darn item anyway. Also..what is with this light highlighting of everything in the folder or folders..GET RID OF IT.....PLEASE!

From: Enabran Templar Sim border crossings are smooth as silk. Which sim border would that be, then? I still have to get off my bike, edit it out of the ground and safely into the new sim and get back on when crossing any and every border!

I was getting in just fine an hour or so ago.. I just got an alt, and was repeatedly logging on and off of both of them. Everything was going great! Ever since about 45 minutes ago, though, I can't log on at all.. It freezes on Contacting User Server for a little bit and then just goes back to the starting screen. It wouldn't be that bad if they weren't doing a Three Stooges marathon on SpikeTV instead of Star Trek like usual. -___- From: Torley Torgeson -TELEPORT and MAP buttons in a Profile Picks do nothing if they are accessed from the FIND ---> PEOPLE window. And the option to snag a landmark from someone else's Profile to add it to my list of travels is gone too.  Noooooo!! Is that true?? ;__;

Just checked (my wife got on before the blockade started) and you cannot, indeed, landmark someone else's "picks". This begs the question: what's the bloody point in having them, then? Does LL expect me to TP over immediately, to anything that looks good? Is this a case of "if it's worth checking out, it's worth checking out RIGHT NOW?!?"
I sincerely regret returning my double-O license sometimes.

4. When i log on for the first time and open inventory, why is the gestures folder always open. Never use it and its annoying to have to close it every time. Yeah, totally agree. That missing-meters-in-the-red-vector thingie is really a nuisance for real estate business because you can't tell people how far their new home will be from the telehub. Another big niggle: You can't get your textures to go into alphabetical order when you go into the about-land media/textures menu. Even if you pre-set your textures list to alphabetical order in your inventory THEN go into the about-land media-textures menu, it won't "go". More annoying, new textures that you just put in, say, in the last 24 hours, which you can see in your inventory, don't show up at all in the "about-land media-textures" menu. Does that suggest it's some other server function stuck on an upload somewhere? But you can't see any uploads on the stats in ctr-shift-1 (BTW, that's the new alt-1 type feature that shows FPS etc.) Seeing all those numbers each time you place an object is also confusing. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all those numbers. I didn't have much I was sure that I was going to be doing with the previous numbers that place everything on an XYZ grid (so that I can never forget I'm in somebody's dream geeky Snowcrash grid thingie). I know this is vital for geekworld. But not everybody wants to see the underskirts of geekworld all the time. I could point out that in TSO where there is often just a smoother and more accessible and democratic interface for normal game things (despite the wall of hate that geekworld expresses for TSO), you can just place things, moving them around "off" that rigid XYZ grid in an easier way sometimes. I guess they could have had a toggle for "numbers on, numbers off" but didn't. Sometimes I think I'm in a magical, immersive virtual world. Then I am brought to earth. I am reminded that basically I'm just inside the annoyingly boring and insufferable science project of that nerdy kid next to me in Mrs. Johnson's math class which he is using to suck up to teachers.
