No one, huns. I'm just wondering where people stand on it, as this is a virtual world, not the real world. Many people share diffrent views on how realistic a virtual world is, and how much government laws should affect it. Such as Internet pedophilia being as much of an offense as the real thing, and people people being tossed in the pen for having Child Pornography. Is Second Life prostitution the same? Should it be considered just as illegal? Or should it be considered the same as buying a pass to a porn site?

Is the text/nonphysical interaction equivilent in any way to the real thing in your mind? Many people equate cybersex and phonesex to supplement long distance relationships. It's really something interestingly strange to argue over, and I thought people might actually post their personal opinions on it. :/

I would think it's akin to phone sex or web cam sex. There is no actual sex act, so how can be equivalent to RL prostitution (which I think should be leagal btw, but that is another topic)? At most I suppose masturbation goes on, aided by visual or aural stimulation, again no actual human to human bodily contact. I think that the legal definition for prostitution is the exchange of $ for a sex act involving two human beings and their body parts, not digital info displayed as pixels.

In SL you are what you want. Nobody is behind your real self with a gun telling you to prostitute yourself (I don't think RL pimps will do that anytime soon... who would pay 100000L$ for virtual sex with some AV while its almost free with others).

I don't really see what's to discuss. This isn't RL, we don't have to decide if something is legal or non-legal, providing we follow the TOS.

I think some of you are missing the point. There needs to be HUMAN contact. Web cams, phones, chats, environments like SL, etc., can only enhance masturbation and do not equal prostitution, not to mention they are still in business so the powers that be must feel the same way. As far as the part about different countries and different laws, LL is in the US, so they are subject to US law. I would be more worried about virtual gambling, as it is real gambling and it's not legal in all states or all countries, and I imagine at some point this will be addressed by the appropriate government agency(s).

This is a game not real life. Prostitution in SL is no more illegal than murder is in other games. We all in SL are nothing but a bunch of RL folks playing PIXELS!!!
