My Father Could Use Your Prayers

I just came from the hospital where my father underwent emergency abdominal surgery. Yesterday he began experiencing pain which quickly grew to the point of nausea and incapacitation. We took him to the emergency room where he was eventually moved to the ICU and this morning they cut him open to take a look and found a massive blood clot cutting off the supply to his intestines. They decided to keep him under until tomorrow when they will reassess and determine how much can be salvaged and how much must be removed. The surgeons are optimistic but his condition is still life threatening. If you are the praying sort it would be appreciated. If you're not, now would be a nice time to start. Thank you. Update: Monday night. I just got home from the hospital. They reopened him to see how things have progressed overnight and found that he responded very well to the removal of the clot. In the end they only had to remove a small section of intestine, the surgeon declaring "He'll never miss it." He should regain consciousness sometime late tonight and be fully awake and aware tomorrow morning at which time we will explain it's actually three days later rather than the expected three hours.  Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and good wishes. I appreciate it more than I can say. These forums are more than a bunch of strangers chatting about a video game. You're the best. Update: Tuesday He's awake and we got to see him this morning. Understandably he's very disoriented and groggy and in quite a bit of pain but all signs are positive and the surgeon and attending nurses are universal in their optimism. They will keep him in the ICU for a few days as a matter of policy but it appears he's out of the woods and aside from the discomfort of recuperation he's going to be fine. Once again, thank you all for your concern. I'm sure it made a difference. |

not to change the subject from our friends pain *hugs* but prayer HAS been scientificly shown (along with meditation and even having a positive attitude) to have a healing effect.
Art Bell, yank radio host, has done mass conciousness experiments, asking people to concentrate on something, like changing the path of a storm for example, and the results scared him a little, apparantly it does work, or at least those experiments did.
Prayers being unheard? well, that's where faith comes in....
