Do you think the General Thread is a fair mix of the opinions of SL?

Cat, <<Ty Torley very well said, god if I had your gift with words my life would be so much easier here lol.>> Aw. In a sense the forums are completely unrepresentative of sl. I have met posters on here who were almost as unlikeable as one of the posters in this thread, but when I have met them inworld they have been charming. I suppose that the forums give slightly more protection of anonymity than being inworld where you have a physical avatar, so people tend to be nicer inworld. Thanks for an interesting poll.

Nope fairness is not valued here.
Truth is laughed at, facts ignored by too many people.
I've actually been told that I owe the forums explanations about my SL - and that the elite of SL post here and these same elite are listened to by LL.
I've seen people attacked, lied about and lied to, others slandered and abused - also seen very cruel humor, tons of stupid toilet jokes, and behaviors of people who seem to have serious character defects.
It's tiresome. And I've also seen, to a lesses extent, intentional acts of love, kindness and respect.

From: Merwan Marker And I've also seen, to a lesses extent, intentional acts of love, kindness and respect. _/_/ I have an auto-tune out filter all the time for silly/tirade posts. Nice well written posts get my attention and respect. The rest sorta flip in one ear and out the other. Kinda like walking through the west village of new york city and noticing how beautiful it is... and not really paying attention to the trash bags on the sidewalk. rule number one is "never let anyone get your goat"

I like to beleive the majority of SL doesn't care much about the majority of the petty-backbiting-drama that goes on in the forums...
Siggy.

Siggy. I believe most of SL doesn't even know we exist.

From: Lordfly Digeridoo The forums are part of the game to me. It's also a good way to be "in touch" with other folks in the game without having to actually fly over there/hang out with them/whatever. Tons of people know me in SL just because I post too much Lately though the signal-to-noise ratio is sadly approaching 1:1 and below. It's even getting on MY nerves. Why are we flaming newbies for asking questions, anyway? LF hehe LF refered to SL as a game Yup LF one of my pet peeves is seeing a noob get flamed in the forums. I try and watch out for them and send them notes of encouragement myself when I see it happening.

From: Ingrid Ingersoll I believe most of SL doesn't even know we exist. I'm actually surprised how many inworld lurk but don't actively post on the Forums and mention this to me, i.e. "I saw your post, I liked it" kinda-type thing which I always appreciate -- but viewing the active userlist (and adding a few more to approximate who is in "Invisible" mode) makes this readily apparent.

I suppose that the forums give slightly more protection of anonymity than being inworld where you have a physical avatar, so people tend to be nicer inworld. Thanks for an interesting poll. Very true Selador, I have asked to meet a few ppl in sl who made some very strong statements in the forums. I was happily suprized, and for the most part we agreed on many issues. It's been rare when anyone person took their negative views/words from the forums and applied them to an im and send it to me. I think ppl are a lot me relaxed in world than they are in the forums. I am a novice when it comes to forums, some of the stuff I read just makes me sad for the poster. However SL is unlike any other VR world I think it would be a nice change of pace to see their forums follow suit . I find it very ironic the differences in ppl from the forums to sl. As of right now the poll results seem to be very much leaning in one solid direction. Perhaps if the forums were run by the players or there was a direct repeater in world of the threads maybe more ppl would be involved. I would love to see more of a connection myself when it comes to hot button topics. Lastly I would like to say I think it was a good idea to move the General forum in the forums list Cat
