I always hear people complaining there aren't enough groups, but every time I've brought up the topic here on the forums so far the response has been lukewarm.

Right now, I belong to two groups to manage land, two Linden-sponsored groups (Mentors and Instructors), a resident instructor group, my own group, and a scripting group. This leaves me with 3 groups to use for short term projects or other fun things.

Surely SL is becoming large enough and complex enough that people are getting involved in lots of projects at once, each requiring it's own group. We need more groups so that we may participate in more projects. More groups encourage more social collaboration.

Let's show some support here for expanding our group limit by signing this thread and keeping it going until we can get some attention on this issue.

I'd like to see group size raised to at least 16, preferably 32. It has been brought to my attention however, that even if our group size were unlimited, it would still take less database storage space than a single uploaded texture.

So let's get to it and show some support for expanding group size. Please reply below with your thoughts, how many groups you think we should have, or just a simple nod of agreement.

Thanks for reading.

I agree.

I'm in 4 groups for various player run orginizations within game (And have land contributions with some of them), 1 group for a project, 3 groups for 'social' reasons, and 2 groups because I'm a vendor at one place or another. There are other groups I'd like to join, but I always have to turn them down...

More groups!

16 would be a bare minimum for a new number, but even it would be better than nothing!

I don't see why we cant just have unlimited... As someone has pointed out, it takes up almost no room storage wise, and this is supposed to be a social game anyhow.

Though this may, perhaps, be better served in the Second Life forums...

YES! More groups please!

(Funny enough, I was heading into the feature suggestion forum to suggest the same thing)

I've had to leave several groups now due to the limit. Worst is, there are projects I don't want to start, because they'd require me to have another group.

Heh. I realized the other day that some of my groups have multiplexed goals.

eg. 75% of the people are in project A, 75% of the people are in project B, but there's only 1 group.

This is stup. id.

I've had to do this more times than I'd care to remember. It started out with me just getting rid of some of the casual groups that were not really ones I did anything with. But now I"m at a point where every group means something to me, and leaving them hurts. Yet new groups pop up all the time. Why should my interests be so limited that I am only allowed to be in 10 groups? It just makes no sense at all.

PLEASE... allow us to belong to many more than just 10 groups.

I'm still relatively new to SL, yet I've still seen what the limit of 10 can do. *supports entirely*

BTW

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Personally, I don't actually care, but I just have to know why the limit is 10. Of all numbers, how is 10 mathematically significant in any way? I mean, come on! 8 or 16 or 1024 would make so much more sense.

Edit: For the person who has just read this and is about to post a paranoid and frantic reply explaining how eight is LESS than ten and urging the Lindens to delete this thread before any of them read it and start thinking, "hey, eight!"... yes, I am specifically persecuting you.
