Here is what I get for my thoughtful expression of insight regarding the current state of affairs in SL found here "Ratings ... why do you care?" post WELFARE REFORM! Bonuses cut by 50% EVENTS LIST REFORM! Lindens end support for non educational events. RATINGS REFORM! Now 25 bucks a point! /me does the Happy Happy Joy Joy dance! Guess I need a new Sig now huh?

I'm thinking that LL will believe that there'll be a knock-on effect of people moving from Basic Accounts to Preimum Accounts by taking money off the bonus stipend. There's two knock-on effects from people doing this: 1. More people will have the basic 512m2 tier so many may then decide to buy land, fuelling land sales. 2. LL make $9.95 a month from them, so those same customers are now paying more. They really don't have anything to lose either on this. After all these people have only paid a $9.95 basic lifetime fee which they can't withdraw, so no negative impact on LL's income, only positive from people deciding that they need to upgrade to a premium membership. In addition are any of those on a premium account currently actually going to tier down to a basic account? I mean really, seriously, not just forum angst and bluster, over this? There may be one or two, but I bet it's not many as these changes actually make pretty much no real long-term difference to premium account members anyway. |
