Y'know, I never "got" Kiss. They have one hit. Why are they still around?

They had many, many hits. When I was 10, my friends and I put on a kiss show in a parent's garage. We had lip synching and fake guitars and everything.

What's the one hit you think they have?

"I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night." That's the only song I've ever heard by them. Whenever anybody mentions Kiss that's the song that everyone starts singing. What else have they done?

I agree. And whenver I point this out, only Kiss fans seem to be able to name their "other" hits.

hey i know alot of trivia about alot of things i hate including KISS. i know the symptoms of ebola too but that doesn't mean i think it's a good thing.

One hit? Excuse me, but did you sleep through the entire 70's and 80's? Whether you like Kiss or not, you can't tell me you just didn't notice the fact that they had hit after hit for decades (unless you are too young and you missed it all, in which case you shouldn't be so quick to make uninformed declarations). There's 11 songs off the top of my head that were extremely popular in the 70's & 80's. There are lots more, but that's all I can think of without investing much thought into it. Love them, hate them, whatever, but don't pretend they didn't exist. Listen to any classic rock station for a few days and you'll hear several of these. Listen for a few weeks, and you're bound to hear all of them (well, maybe not "Let's Put the X in Sex" since most fans like to pretend the non-makeup era never happened, but the rest should all be there.)

I embraced the non-makeup era as I feel Gene and Paul evolved as musicians. I know their shows definitely improved as well as their live sound.

I belive Beth was the only hit they have ever had.....Lots of great songs and the albums placed well....but Beth wastheir only hit.

Also, I am not a fan of Kiss, I'm just old and cranky, so I remember when they were such a phenom (76), and everybody dressed like them for halloween and had their dolls. Then the next year we stopped paying attention to them, turned in our Kiss Army cards, and watched Star Wars thirty times each. Incidently, I know a guy who stayed really into Kiss, I believe he's like a Lt. Col. in the Kiss Army at this point, but that's probably due more to thinning ranks then aptitude.

And I was Ace, of course, Lecktor.

They have been on the charts but most people define a hit as a top 10 song and Beth was the only top 10 they had... I thought Love Gun made the charts too? Either way they have never been a band that relied on hits.

The weirdest thing I remember was when Beth was big they did a talk show ( Merv Griffin I think) and Peter played the piano and sang beth as the rest of the boys just stood there and watched ....really odd

I didn't realize top ten was a 'hit', if that's the case then you are absolutely right. I didn't see love gun listed, and i was also surprised that detroit rock city wasn't listed, but the list I made was off searches of top 100's that were handmade, I couldn't find a comprehensive list, so there may be some errors.

Kiss actually had a prime-time made for TV movie at one time, in the height of thier popularity, where they went about solving a murder. I was a huge kiss fan, and even I hated that movie.

I was a kiss fan when they were relatively unknown, and right up through the Love Gun era, but they lost me after that. Still love thier first three albumns; Kiss, Hotter Than Hell and Dressed To Kill.

Ahh yes, the Phantom of the Park ! I own it LOL as well as the movie Gene is in with Tom Selleck, can't think of the name of it. Also Gene is in a B movie called Trick or Treat. It was rather comical. Yes I own all their albums on cd and have about 8 LP's to include all of the special solo LP's.

Runaway. It also starred what is now about 50% of Kirstie Alley.

By the way, was it just me, or was Kiss' well hyped "unmasking" a bad idea?
