Plight of the Penguin Patrol

If you have been around the sandboxes lately, you probably know all about the Penguin Patrol. (Official group name Penguin Gang) Apparently, a lot of people have some grievances against the group, and I, as a member of the Penguin Patrol, would like to use this thread to discuss these issues, and try to work out some sort of peace. So please post your comments, and let's work this out in a more civil manner than the liberal use of push scripts.

From what I've seen of them, they aren't bad people, just maybe going through the same noobish confusion everyone goes through. They aren't malevolent, they just haven't been introduced to the "ground rules" of SL yet.

My example - hanging in the sandbox with that ambrosia for your earhole, Bananaphone, playing over and over. I made a comment like "Boy, I wish I could listen to Bananaphone all day long" - and a Penguin was nice enough to drop me the sound clip To me, that's not griefing, that's just not knowing that people frown upon Bananaphone ad infinitum.

That's been my only experience with them. I kinda think they're cute, what with their matching avis and all.

I've seen several of them in the Cordova sandbox lately. And their patrol vans too. I know I feel very safe with them patroling around. If anyone messes with me I just KNOW the Penquin Patrol will come to my aid!

On a more serious note, they've all been nice to me and it cracks me up when I see the prtol van running around and a bunch of penquins pile out of it!

Well, I am glad for the positive feedback. I was'nt really expecting any.
But this proves that the Penguin Patrol does more good than harm. I still want to know what those who have issues with us think.

Just don't confuse them with "Cult of the Panguin". The Cult's into a different kind of evil altogether.

Its possible they are invading the hamsters turf...have to check into this

Issue #1 - I hate to step in all the penguin poo being left behind in the sand boxes.
Issue #2 - You guys are eating all the herring in SL. Leave some for the rest of us.
Issue #3 - While you may be pretty smart dressers, you waddle around thinking you are better than the rest of the birds in SL, you still taste like chicken.
Issue #4 - All your penguin noises are driving away my herds of young sheep, this will not be tolerated.
Issue #5 - Cubey wasn't told about this group. I'm sure he would have loved to help.

We are not all noobies though, some of them are. We try to be as respectful as we can. Penguins are usually spotted in the sandbox, yes.

I have issues with you Penguins because I haven't run into any of you yet. You guys are so cool how come you haven't dropped by Furu yet?

Is it because of the penguin eating alligator?

Don't worry - his bark is worse than his bite.

Oh and the fact that you actually care enough about your impact on the other peoples SL experience to make sure your group activities aren't construed as griefing makes you the kind of penguins that I would like to get to know.

Hear hear! I was just in a sandbox and one of these chaps rolled up in his "pimp-my-ride"ed UPS truck and asked how things were going and asked affably if we were causing trouble. It was amusing. =)

Maybe groups like this could be the eyes and ears of the surely-overworked Liaisons? Not in a pushgun kinda way, but a uh-oh-I-see-someone-griefing-a-newb-who-probably-doesn't-know-how-to-summon-LL-help,-time-to-snag-LL's-help kinda way. Wow, that was an uber-hyphenated word...

Yesterday there was a sign in Newcomb that said that some group (forgot the name) wants to declare war with us because they think our signs and buildings in the sandbox are annoying... what do you people think of this?

I think they're being silly. Don't stress about it. What can they do? Shoot you a few times, you guys file abuse reports, its all over. Such is "war" in SL.

Unless they're just joking around, in which case I say go along with it, have fun.

What kind of group would declare war on penguins...are they a bunch of polar bears or SeaWorld CEOs or something?

I honestly think they REALLY wasnt us gone. Whenever I go to the sandbox, people yell at me, say PENGUINS SUCK, and theres dummy penguins that are killable, and signs saying that we suck. Can you guys tell me why people hate the penguins so much? I'm starting to feel that i'll start to be known as a bad person because I am the "General" of the penguins.

Anthony, next time I see you and your penguin gang in a sandbox, I'll be sure to say hi and hang out with you guys and have fun.

You have just as much right to be there as they do, so don't go. Besides, I have yet to catch up with you guys in action at the sandbox and I don't want you to be gone before I do!

Also as someone else said, maybe it's someone hoping to strike up a 'friendly' rivalry with you folks, a loyal opposition.

Ok guys - I love ya all but it appears that a couple of members in your group are not so benign. I was disconcerting to say the least. I was standing around in the sand box area when these two wandered by and then just stood there, staring at me in an threatening manner.

On a more serious note. TO ALL THOSE PENGUIM HATERS:

LEAVE THE PENGUIN PATROLLERS ALONE. These guys are amazing. They make me laugh and i love the typical scene almost daily in the sandboxes.
