I hate blue decks... counters and creature bouncing are the cheapest things ever. Of course then there's land destruction. Uuggh...
One of my friends has a blue deck that is wizard/counter focus... including 4 patron wizards >_<
Pray I get enough mana and extinction...

I think SL makes the ultimate escape from RL, and is one of the only ways a few people have a "life". Such as somebody who had some sort of terrible accident, and has to stay bedridden for a good long time... plug in a computer and broadband, and you can start over in a "Second Life", which is vivid, and promising.
I kinda doubt that LL would sell out, but maybe Im just optimistic. I dont think Iwant them to sell out, so I believe they wont, and Ill be able to live a second life for a good long time... sure eventually it will end, but SL is still young, and it's growing pretty steadily. Another thought I have about our little virtual getaway is that this is the future of the internet, that land can work as a webpage, set up a buisness, and make some cash, people are already doing it! Anyways, in answer to the question, I think Id be really sad, and be completely bored all the time. I think what would REALLY get me is the fact that I woudn't be able to do something with that idea of a giant mouse shaped spaceship with cheese rays that floats around in my head all day  ._____________________

I mean who doesn't love creatures that can be summoned from the graveyard and do damage to things when they leave play? Oh, M:TG wasn't the main topic was it... Well if SL shut down i'd be sad of course, but the only reason I stick around is the friends i've made ingame, and I can keep in contact with them elsewhere if I need to. _____________________

I think there is a fundamental difference between spending 10 hours clicking away at monsters versus spending 10 hours crafting the most beautiful work of 3d art you are capable of.
If SL ever went under, the impact will be far greater, I think, then any other MMO going under. But, I'm a big addict, so what do I know. _____________________

This is in their plans. At the town hall meeting with Philip when they announced the last lot of investment money (October last year) he described LL as 'pre-public' and then explained this away as meaning that it was a private company If that happens, I do think that things will really shift. It opens them up to a buyout and a complete changing of the guard. It also makes them have to answer more to the aspect of 'growth' rather than just profitability. I've just rarely seen a startup thrive after IPO. Usually it just becomes such a culture shock, suddenly being at the whim of the stock market and analysts who don't really know about your business; downgrading it if it happens to be in the same 'sector' as a poor performer. |

And then they'd release the server software/client software/everything else under the GPL and hope for the best. Buuuut, the concept of SL seems to be growing fast... they'll probably turn a profit this year. I can't wait.  LF _____________________

I think it might be wishful thinking, but it's more likely with a group like LL than any other I can think of. I do, however, hope it doesn't come to that. |
